I do like the korg - Ive had it about 5 years now & im hardly going near it anymore - Just fancied something new to learn & possibly inspire mepulsoc wrote:I'm partial to the korg sounds, haven't checked out the Alesis really.
What don't you like about the Microkorg? As was mentioned, the R3 has keys and a better interface, plus the sick sounds of the korg family.
Not true, the miniAK is exactly the same synth as the micron. Only difference is the wheels instead of sliders and a top mounted mic input. Otherwise, they are identical. You can use the same patches, etc. I actually prefer the sliders and in my opinion the miniAK is also uglier!Homebelly wrote:next up the ladder is the new Akai mini synth (Can't remember the name right now) same engine as the micron but with some more bits and bobs and a couple more knobs on it as well as pitch and mod wheels instead of the sliders on the micron.
On mac you have the micronAU too, great little plugin lets you program the micron on the computer.Homebelly wrote:If your on a PC there are a couple of very cool VST editors for the micron as well...

You sure about that? Over at the Ion/Micron/miniAK user group on yahoo this has been discussed at great length including people who have A/B tested them. The conclusion was they are the same, including the interface, the buttons (although in different orientation and given different names) and the effects. The step sequencer also appears to be identical. From glancing through the miniAK manual I have come to that conclusion myself too although never messed with one.Homebelly wrote:Um..ghostly wrote:Not true, the miniAK is exactly the same synth as the micron. almost..
The miniak has the same synth engin, but a much different OS that has more FX and a much better sequencer, arp and drum/step sequencer.
Your right, It can import and read MICRON patches through systex, but the micron can not read minak patches.
What was pants about your micron?chinney4321 wrote:I sold my micron i thought it was pants! i got a microkorg and its alot better..
If you want to sell your microkorg get the r3 its one of the most underated synths out there!
