- but my music sucks.
hmm...dont know - I would have thought it would have to be - especially if we use the name 'Ableton Live aid' - could you not remix it in live?sweetjesus wrote:not trying to blow my trumpet, but I'm a pretty competent designer and I would be happy tohelp with the artwork and also donating a track.
I'd like to donate a track I didnt make in LIVE... would that b OK? dunno if this is to uptempo, need some work but: http://sweetjesus.bootrecords.com/insan ... sive_2.mp3
that could be a really cool bit to have in thereAmberience wrote:I'd like to donate a track I composed. Not just as some exposure for myself, but also as a message to whomever listens to it.

I used a sample by William S. Burroughs talking about his thoughts on the atom bomb, and a TV documentary he saw on it.
The sample itself is probably illegal, but I don't care. His words are too important to be dismissed as theft on my part.
AFAIk they provide pressing, printing and distribution, but I havent personally checked it out - I understood you just send one CD and they do the rest as and when people order itct43 wrote:Forge, this CD baby thing looks interesting, seems as if you have to provide all the CD's though, or am I reading it wrong? Hey Rahlo - just checked out your site - nice stuff man! cant believe I didnt check it out before! - I hear so much shit hip-hop these days that I've got a bit blinkard which is a shame cause what you're doing is wicked so there must be others i'm missing too - I grew up on hip-hop in the 80s and 90s and one thing that's pissed me off about alot of the newer stuff that makes the radio is it seems to be more about the MCs ego and less about the groove - I always wanted the beats!rahlo wrote:Yo, mos def count me in. I can do a new track or rhyme on a track if somebody needs an emcee.
Even though im sure Adam would do a good job, I think that the proposed CD would work better if it wasent mixed, or maybe it could be a double CD one mixed & one unmixed. The other thing I was going to say was, do you think you would be able to use the track with the speech in it? Wouldnt you have to get clearance?forge wrote:that could be a really cool bit to have in thereAmberience wrote:I'd like to donate a track I composed. - the question is - who's going to mix the CD? I'd definitely be happy to take it on but I dont have any mixing credits on my resume - I have used Live pretty much exclusively for production but I'm confident I could do it justice and would be happy to do it, but failing that I would have thought Adam Jay would be a good contender if up for it - consider that my nomination??
that's the best way forward so far - I've PMed sweetjesus as he offered his design skills so maybe he could work on the front end page...instead of making a CD which cost loads of money and is time consuming
i would suggest you collect a bunch of tracks from the artists which
are willing to contribute and put them on a website. Include a link to
the organisation(s) you want to support and suggest that everyone who`s
downloading the tracks should at least donate 10 EUR / USD to that
organisation(s).
The participants could link or mirror this site. I personally would be
willing to submit an unreleased monolake track. I could also offer the
(unnuesed) imbalance computer music domain ( http://www.imbalance.de )
as one host for the download.
I cannot promise that ableton would feature it without talking to the
other guys but this is how i would do it.
One of my labels just tanked, the other is still about 3 releases back in the queue so putting it on my label is somewhat unrealistic right now.forge wrote:
So how we going to do this? Adam you've got a catalogue as long as my arm - does that mean you're fairly well connected on the distribution front ? Do you, or does anyone else have a label they want to put it on?
