Drum and Bass? Not my thing, but I use Live for psytrance with 20+ tracks. I switched from Logic about 18 months ago. There's definitely a few bugs Ableton badly need to fix but I have no problems with the sound quality.

Yes, you can use Ableton for traditional recording. Use Arrange view and make sure your recordings aren't Warped.

Total bull. You're either a troll or an incompetent who has absolutely no idea how to render correctly and how to use Live properly.

Live does certain things much better than other DAW’s and could be used in a traditional way. Inspiration and creation are much better in live as well as using loops. However, I use Sonar to master and finish my tracks and maybe if I was going to use it exclusively in a traditional way (eg, vocals, drums, bass, guitar, keyboard) then maybe I plump for Sonar.

Commerical studios using software other than Live for recording and mixing is more of a workflow issue... and tradition, all these guys who've been in the game for 30 years are gonna stick to what they know. The fact that Live isn't ideal for that application isn't due to its sound quality, it's that the likes of Pro Tools are just more effective and efficient for recording bands and suchlike.
