hehe .. this makes me laugh, in a good way. fookin great

the only thing keeping this from being a real dance track are the melodies imo.

there are grooves that make people dance, and there are colors
that keep the head entranced.

The more prominent the melody, the more is takes the body away
from dancing.

think of .. making a dub version of those melodies ... think in little
phrases that drop in the groove .. and this will be a dance track

Still sounds a little break beat'ish to me... which isn't a bad thing...

You did add more bass... but in a bass/kick drum sort of way...

May I suggest... if you can... try and squeeze a bass sound that is almost a 1/2 measure... so 2 per measure... as a start try and get something that goes kind of 'whum'... like a quick attack, but you can still feel the filter coming in to strangle out the highs... I guess that is the best way I can state it... tomorrow... (when I'm at work and have more time heh) maybe I'll try and come up with an operator patch to get the idea acrossed.

One of the things I've at least found with trance is that the bass line is *nearly* the same note... very driving... and entirely predictable. You should be able to set your watch to it. While it isn't a hard and fast rule... it seems like when you strip everything else away, people should still "feel" the song from the bass line, which is why you often hear a song build up to the baseline, but in techno (or at least the stuff I listen to) it'll usually there after be hanging around pounding away and not getting tired... Of course I should listen to the song on some proper speakers as the tiny speaker on my laptop is certainly not doing it justice... but I would've thought I'd at least get an impression of it...

I didnt like it at first but after a few listens its damned catchy. I would call this Techno. Teny years ago it would have been the epitomy of techno so I guess these days it would be called electronica or some other new name a journalsit made up. Still techno to me

Nice Job sir. Contrary to Unsuccessful Handshake's comments about this being "too songy" for techno (comments were largely satirical methinks. If so , kudos to handshake) I think this is a great techno track. Not enough timbral variety to make me extremely impressed, but good composition. Maybe some more punchy mid-range leads and some heavier percussion. 'sall I can think of. Nice to hear what operator can do. Nice to see a brand-new FM synth out there. Especially one coming from Ableton.

This thread has been great for seeing the evolution of a track. Beginners, take note; the first writing of a track is not it's end. This has been very educational. Thank you globalgoon!

I dig it big time! Just heard the first version. Now I downloaded the version 5... and... damn! The kick drum indeed made the tune more "technoish"... and somewhat dancy. Interesting twists. I like the new lead a lot.

Very nice, but I would make another modification. I'd take your lead instrument (the high-tone sounding keyboard like that you are doing a solo with) and spread the sound out about, make it with a little more bass and a little more sustain. Maybe put a little buzz into it to give it more texture. It sounds too mechanized or computerish, too something.
It's been fun watching the work in progress.
