I've used quite a few different pieces of software for making music over the years and I personally feel that any slight difference in sound quality is a non-issue. The reality is that timeless classics were being written long before we had the crystal-clear digital recording equipment we have today. What I personally love about Live is that it is a great tool to support your creativity. Instead of being something I turn to at the end to record a song it is something I get benefit from at every stage in the song writing process. That's why I'm so glad I finally found Live.

Old thread but thought I'd return to this comment anyway. Seems you didn't notice the disclaimer on the first page of the article, which states:
The screenshots used in the walkthroughs have been captured by us for demonstration purposes, rather than being made by our featured artists. Thus, they don't necessarily represent the actual software those artists use.
