Is everyone using Live nowadays?
Just bought the latest Computer Music magazine and pretty much every tutorial used Live and all the artist tutorials in the "How to make a hit" feature also all used live.
I myself am a long time Logic user but i'm using Live more and more in my productions (in no small part due to the parallel processing of racks)!
So is it me, or is Live taking over the DAW world (in particular where dance music is concerned)?

Those magazine is paid by company to advertise. It's business. Don't be deceived by commercialism. If you can compose in Logic that'll be fine. Logic's sound is better than Live as many pro admitted. I think you can compliment the workflow with Live though.
Re: Is everyone using Live nowadays?
Live is extremely popular. Use whatever works for you. The end.

Incorrect. Not getting into this topic again, just suffice to say that this is wrong.pencilrocket wrote: Logic's sound is better than Live as many pro admitted.

I think this is incorrect too. In the pages of cm (I'm a subscriber) there are three DAWs above all others: Live, Logic and Cubase. Now, I've not made a scientific study about the subject but I wouldn't be surprised if said three DAWs were the most commonly used in edm production.pencilrocket wrote:Those magazine is paid by company to advertise. Correct. Ableton are strongly paying artists , blogs , magazines and mass media to advertise their products. That's their strategy. I don't mean to blame ableton because it's business. It is only you that are insensitive or don't know what the stealth marketing is. "Thank you for buying Ableton's products fanboy!"Rationalizer wrote:I think this is incorrect too. Yep my whole family is strung out on Live, and every where I go I see people on laptops making beats or something. Yesterday a big fight broke out at starbucks because some guy said Logic sounded better. The whole planets like zombified, except for pencilneck, that guy really knows how to keep his cool.

Or perhaps some of us are able to make an educated judgement on what DAW suits them after trying many demos and doing lots of background research?pencilrocket wrote: Correct. I'm afraid not, pencilrocket is pure truth on any subject.evangelink wrote:Or perhaps some of us are able to make an educated judgement on what DAW suits them after trying many demos and doing lots of background research?pencilrocket wrote: Correct. Re: Is everyone using Live nowadays?
I prefer Live over the other DAWs because of its flexibility and workflow enhancements, even though the others are doing a good job in catching up, Live still takes some beating.
I'm on Live 7 and would upgrade to Live 8 now it's more or less rock-solid stable if it weren't for the fact that Live 9 is around the corner. I can't wait for Live 9 to be released as i'll be getting to use all the goodies from 8 as well, which I haven't done since the beta but as long as my bank balance is good, i'll be upgrading on day 1 and if my bank balance is really good then i'll be upgrading to Live 9 suite.
Also, I encourage other people to use Live, once they have worked their way through the excellent tutorials, their brains will be buzzing with possibilities and they'll want it.
Poor old pencilrocket seems to be stuck in a negative rut. He wouldn't have it that Karma FX would send me my download link yesterday when I bought the KarmaFX synth.....because it was a busy saturday holiday......it actually came through in under half an hour but he's not said anything about it since I told him.
Don't worry pencilrocket, not everyone is a doom-laden slouch, no matter how much you want them to be.

Any chance of pointing me to the rude comment?pencilrocket wrote: Thanks for rude comment noob.
I've only commented on the actual facts. First being your negativity, the second being your negativity in connection with my Karma FX license, which you doubted would appear the same day, so the words "doom laden slouch" are merely observations. If you can't handle such observations being made about you, how about demonstrating a little less doubt and a lot more positivity.
Also, I joined in 2008 and have made over 660 posts, so I hardly qualify for noob status.
