Yeah it is a good mic!
Basically a bedroom setup. I guess i need to work the positioning then, rather than getting a new mic.
Thanks again

But the recording is still too distorted!
I have tried connecting the mic in to the different inputs on the Tascam interface also. And have tried it with the limiter on and off also.
I am all out of ideas now.
Is it definitely the interface that is causing the poor quality, due to being used with Windows 10???
Yeah, as you mentionned wrong audio device for output was selected.

It was the output buffer that was giving off a distorted sound. It works ok now latency wise...
Could you have a look at the new preferences settings, and let me know if it looks of to you please?

Also, my mic is picking up background noise. I am presuming it is designed to do so, and that i need a mic that is designed to only pick up close by sounds?
If so, could you recommend a production worthy microphone, that doesnt cost a fortune please?
Thanks!
As I see the overall preferences are OK.
But you don't need 96 kHz sample rate as the music industry standard is 44.1 and HD-video standard is 48kHz.
It's better to lower your buffer size to lower the latency if you want to do a record and monitoring session.
Well, that microphone doesn't look like a studio mic. You should have a condenser mic with cardioid diaphragm and pad function on your preamp or mic.
Cheers

It is a very good quality mic, but it picks up everything in the room.
Im guessing i need a mic that pics up sound within a very close range?
is that a condenser mic?
if so, it's your room. i agree with your guess. the mic is too sensitive and picking up all the nuances and acoustics.
try a higher end dynamic mic.* Shure SMB7 is a good one.
*most of them sound WAY better with a good pre-amp.
