mike, please can we see a screenshot of your curves? i've got a funny feeling we've got different definitions of what a curve is! i'm talking about true curves, and i think you're talking about lots of small straight lines to create a pseudo-curve effect.

Hey Alex,
If you mean like in Acid Pro when you can set a fade in/fade out on clips, then this is close to that. Depending I guess on the granularity of the display layout it will look reasonable. AndI think you can drag them out further to get a smoother look to them. I'll see what I can do for a screen capture when I get the time, which won't be till either tomorrow night or over this weekend some time.

Yes - curve choices please - just like in the Sony Vegas & Acid products...

I can live without curves, there aint much difference between a curve and 4 or 5 points (as darkendsoul has [unknowingly] pointd out). For all that extra coding.
I definatley second the line tool for velocities though.
Or add velocity to the 'MIDI Ctrl' list for envelopes.

everybody loves curves. its a must have. painting and lines might be 'all that' for a basic software package but for live come now.

+1, the slow curve, straight line, and fast curve feature is very useful.

He's right because this linear fade in and out
leads to this curvy result
But of course, selectable curves would be better.

It would be nice but if it's a matter of priority I'll take other things first for sure. Midi assignments are SO easy in Live that you can physically record a fade from a controller in nearly the same amount of time it would take to draw a nice perfect curve even with new tools, and dare I say... that seems a more musical way of doing things.
To each his own, but I hope Ableton is working on other things at a much higher priority (groups, takes/comping, crossfades).
