Sounds good, but I think it is way too much work for teh development team. Lets keep this realistic. ...I consider comprehensive zoom functions essential.Josh Von wrote:Tarekith wrote:More user assignable zoom commands:

This goes along with "let us map EVERY interface element in live, not just the ones Ableton thinks we need"

ZOOM KEYS PLEASE

Why?
Allowing mappable interface elements is a simple, mechanical programming task
Its not rocket science - its not radically different from one element to another
I dont think they're not mapping them because its too difficult
They're probably not mapping them mainly because they dont think we need them, and they're busy with other stuff
But we do need them:
- i/o, send, return up down
- clip, launch, sample, envelope views
- clip save button
- fine transpose
etc etc
How hard can it be to map these and others? No I dont believe its hard

Do you think its hard?
Somebody expressed the opinion that they dont want the guys to spend any time letting us map all the elements
Do you really think its going to take them ages of time to map the freaking clip view widgets or the io view widgets?
Or did you just come in here looking for an argument

Well, i don't know, you make a lot of comments about the coding of the software. I believe you even suggested that the abes must re-write the whole thing from the ground up in your opinion. I'm just wondering if you have any credentials to back that up or if this is just another example of you knowing everything without actually having to know anything?

In terms of how hard this particular task is? How would i know? I'm not a programmer.
you are?
I have a degree in IT and was in the industry for about 10 years professionally
No, Im not but I know enough to know that mapping some widgets on the screen is not nearly as time consuming and groundbreaking as .. say ...
Inventing a new rack system or creating detachable interface components
Do you?

Is it possible for somebody to come onto a board,
And just express an opinion without being attacked for it by some stranger that has a problem with the fact that you dont agree with them on everything
Is what Im wondering.

Yes, so we ask for what we need .. thats what this is for
Its a narrow little topic area in life thats important enough for some of us to take a minute out of our day to express our opinions
And ask for things that we would like to see or need in a product that we paid for
even the smallest features that 'obviously' don't take long to code can introduce loads of new bugs..
This is true,
I do think its not reaching way out of bounds to think that asking for the remaining interface elements to be mapped is not a monumental programming task that needs to be scheduled until 2010

i was just pointing something out.
You have an IT degree? That's great. I've built servers from the ground up, and i don't have an IT degree. And i also don't know shit about how to code a piece of software like this. You do?
it's not about not agreeing with everything. In fact i have no problem with what you are asking for, why would i? I have a problem with the fact that you act like you know everything about everything. you don't know shit about how to code stuff like ableton.
