I am assuming this technology will now take over the world and be licensed just about freaking everywhere .. skip ahead a few years and ... sample clearance?

how the hell would you begin to police that? It's Herbie Hancock's funky clavinet, but the chords are different and the notes are phrased differently. Is it Herbie Hancocks clavinet anymore?
It's going to get interesting. I can't wait to get my hands on this.

You won't - the end of the video said that this will be in the v2.0 of the Melodyne Plugin, which costs $250 and can run inside Live as a VST plugin.

If you get the studio, then you can do multi-track pitching and what not, and my guess is that you'll be able to change keys on a multi-track level.

My jaw has literally dropped...I'm seriously astounded that this is now possible...can you imagine, just imagine the possibilities??!?!?!!? Holy fucking shit?!?!?!

I just got to the end of the video I just kept watching the middle over and over again repeating "fuck , fuck fuck"

I doubt anyone can imagine how far this invention will go. It will be used everywhere. really serious stuff.

Yah, bro, no shit, this is insanely paradigm shifting stuff!!!

Can you imagine what's gonna happen to old recordings now? Nothing is sacred...

Holy shit, I just thought of something...can you imagine a whole new generation of Amen Breaks?

You can go into anything that Melodyne can "decode" and drop volumes, change pitch, lengths, omfg, mind-boggeling!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

I was just IM-ing a friend on this.

what's to stop someone getting 'electric ladyland'. extract the hendrix, and re-order the notes and mute a few, put it in a different scale. new hendrix album? my new album?

what is it?
A remix?
A re-play?

Suit #1: I mean, have you got any insight as to why a bright boy like this would jeopardize the lives of millions?
Suit #2: No, sir, he says he does this sort of thing for fun.

They didn't demo any drum loops. Only guitar and piano. I wonder....

I've seen videos of and worked on drum loops in Melodyne, and it's literally just like midi and super simple. If they have a way to unmix drums (which I'd assume isn't far away if they can decode a multi-timbrel guitar - Holy Shit, just saying it out loud astounds me!) then you should be able to do everything you just saw in that video with drum loops.

*amazement*
