Wow, I went to Sam Ash today to buy a pair of new Yamaha monitors and the Jupiter 8. I had my eyes set on this thing for the longest time (really one of the only Arturia products I didn't own), and let me tell you the thing is A BEAST! It is honestly NOTHING like any of my other synths and I have pretty much every major VST out there. I make house/progressive/trance so its really a synth that is up my alley, but the sound quality vs. the minimoog is just above and beyond regardless. The thing probably sounds better than any real Jupiter ever did. Plus, if you buy now at Sam Ash or on their website you get another Arturia product for free! You can essentially buy the Jupiter and order the Analog Factory free since it is like a best of compilation. I tried the demo against each particular synth and the sounds are identical between the original plugin and analog factory.

i use the arp2600 for pretty much creating all my sounds. best soft synth ive eva used. the arpegiator is a beast. i think i prefer it to the jupiter, but more so because i hav more experience now with the arp. i must say i never go accustomed to the minimoog. should give it another shot.

Minimoog V has been my go to synth for a very long time. I tried the jupiter and felt that Arturia was trying a little too much with it. I didn't really feel like the sequencer was appropriate and the layout of the original instrument doesn't really translate well into the digital world. The Minimoog was a simple synth to program in the first place. Arturia keeps it simple and only adds a few optional effects, lfo matrix, and polyphony.

It's all subjective but I love the JP8V for it's 80's sounding pads and horns especially and the sequencer thingy they included with it is actually pretty awesome. Yes, the GUI is not as user friendly as the moog, sometimes trying to emulate something too real isn't always the best option and it can be a bit of an eye strain although visually it looks amazing. Both sound great. Buy the moog, get the JP8V free. That's an awesome deal.

Or buy Analog Factory if you are someone who is more into presets or slighlty editing presets into new sounds. That has 3500 sounds, including 500 from the minimoog and Jupiter 8 emulations. (the rest are moog modular, prophet V and VS, Yamaha CS80 and ARP 2600, all cool synths)
