That should get you started, but make sure to put a "general purpose" compressor on each channel to get a reference point. I usually go with:
Threshold -48db
Ratio 24:1
Attach - 1ms or less
release - as long as possible (1200ms is best)
After that you can add regular compressors to get your pump n vibe.
Also make sure when using EQs to boost the good frequencies as much as possible, you only want to cut if you're using high or lowpass filters.
oh and if you can, you should bus your compressors whenever possible, and put your reverbs and delays as inserts.
Hahah, this post is awesome.
I'd love to hear a track with those settings... timeline...your Persian Funk track has too much guitar!

All I can say is that you need to practice and that over and over again. Your ears will grow into mixing as you proceed. When I compare my first mixes to my latest, its soooo fucking different!! My listening really changed after years of learning to mix...and i'm still learning! I looked up everything there is on the net about mixing, using compressors and eq and all other fx...read some books about mixing, and then you realize that there are definitly no rules, as every engineer tells you something different! There are some rules of thumb though but it's really best to mix, mix, mix and then again. There's NO shortcut IMO! Good luck and enjoy the trip!
