I installed the update and now Live is updating my library. How long does this typically take? It seems to be taking forever... I don't recall exactly when it started but I think it's been going a good 45 minutes at least, and it's like at 2600 of 6658..

when reading things like this, im kinda glad i don't own the suite...

is it only me being a little bitter about ableton these days?
I get frequent crashes just by moving tracks around in the arrange and the manage files function sees used files as unused and deletes them. Not a single word about this from the abes.

It seemed to do mine in no time. I'm a bit worried it did it at all. Were there dialogue boxes with yes/no options etc. or does it happen automatically as it updates lessons and such?

It really takes long to install all that (when open the new version for the first time) and i don´t even own Collision or any of Abletons instruments, so can i just abort the installationprocess which comes up when i open the new version for the first time or do i loose any effect presets than as well, which might get installed in this very process?

Thanx for a short answer! :)
Well i quote myselfe here. Good to see that other people find the ultralong installation of the presets annoying too.

The library update only take place once - if it takes too long - then install at a time when you cn wait for a while.

There are way more important things to sort out in live - ie crashing etc, though 804 does seem alot better.

I experience massive audio clicks with projects which haven´t clicked before. CPU has plenty of power left, projects with lives CPU consumption meter showing 40-50% are clicking. if I increase the buffer size to more than 60ms!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!, it still clicks sometimes. dpc latencies under windows are ok. that is not a hardware issue!

ableton please analyze your shitty code!

hopefully ableton will not release live version 9 at the beginning of next year.

there is plenty of work to be done to call the version 8 release stable.

What´s up Ableton?

I take this back - its as bad as 803/802/801 etc

What I dont get is I found the later 8 betas were way way more stable :?
Just simple things like dragging in an abelton effect crashes it ffs - actually its as soon as I drag on the device to pull it in! Not impressed! Not impressed at all!

Tried Live 7.0.15 just in case it was my PC - that seems fine.

REALLY frustrated! I have a number of pieces using Native Instruments' Kore Player, and it crashes 8.0.4 every time. I'm trying to put together a set for a July 1st performance at a festival, and I can't do it!!! Is there a copy of 8.0.3 somewhere I can download? At least that was somewhat stable!

I don't recall any dialog boxes, I think it just started updating the library when I loaded Live 8 for the first time after running the update. I ended up uninstalling Live 8 though and re-installing the latest full version from scratch anyway because by doing the update I lost the black and white splash screen. I know it's a goofy thing to worry about but I thought maybe it was best to start over in case anything else got missed.

Lots of crackles/click when I add new devices, enabling sends, etc...

Slow, steady decline from annoying to unusable... :(

Edit: just arming a track on/off causes crackles...

Back to using 8.0.3. Kore Player no longer crashing Live. Solved in the short term, anyway.

Yep have to say 8.0.4 seems more crash happy here too. Can't delet audio from my arrange view without it craqshing on this project. Role on 8.0.5 - we will get there :D
