About AirPort Client Update for MacBook and MacBook Pro
This update is recommended for some Intel-based Macintosh computers running Mac OS X v10.5.8 and addresses an issue with AirPort performance while running on battery power. It may only be installed on:?? MacBook (13-inch, Late 2007)? MacBook (13-inch, Early 2008)? MacBook (13-inch, Late 2008)? MacBook Pro (15-inch, Early 2008)? MacBook Pro (17-inch, Early 2008)? MacBook Pro (17-inch, Late 2008)
Excellent - cheers for that - downloading...
Oddly enough, although my machine is a MacBook Pro (15-inch, Early 2008)?, the update refuses to install, saying that my hardware is not compatible... ah well, thanks anyway...

ok...
I'm trapped.
I'm still on a stable and reliable os 10.5.6.
I accepted the update from itunes 8 to 9.
itunes9 now needs Safari 4 to access the iTunes Store.
But I can't install safari 4 because I'm not on 10.5.8.... AAAAAArg!!!!!
This will make me avoid spending too much $$ on iTunes store
Before they release a really reliable update....
cheers

i say wait, only good thing (if you have need for it, i do) is that you can set up home sharing in iTunes9, it's really wicked.
otherwise, i would wait.

thanks subfunk,
I'm less and less trusting apple. they release new updates every monthes, and it's more and more un-reliable...
I'm now used to wait before upgrading the system, but I always click "yes" for applications updates such as iTunes, safari... I should learn to wait for these upgrades too...
and now I'm on iTunes 9, I thought it would be better than the 8 (I prefered the 7... but automatically updated when asked for, and the 8 is often "color-wheeling" when an iPod is connected...)
the only problem is that I cant' access the iTunes store without safari 4, but it's a minor problem, as I'm not really a DJ so I don't really need to buy some tracks every week...
WTF is Apple doing? can't they wait before releasing their upgrades????
Perhap's are they building a new commercial philosophy to attract pc-users: "we've got to implement bugs and crappy hardware-system malfunctions, a too clean and reliable OS seems to frighten the potential customers that come from the pc world"...
no shit...

^^^ i always click yes, 10.5.8 is the first update with a minor issue, ah no airport once as well, but that they fiexed super fast. But maybe it's been good for so many years it feels like a big issue now.
Fair enough.
EDIT: because apple except those two times i mentioned never gave me a headache is the only software i updated blind. everything else i follow: 'don't change a running system'
also with apple the reason for updating regular is security updates and stuff.
