Yup, all seems to be ok here both on the internal soundcard as well as the external. Will run the performance test just to make sure as subjectively the fans seem to be running a bit more often...

No change in the performance test figure.

Oddly enough, the airport did go flaky though - switched it off for the performance test, re-enabled it afterwards and it couldn't find my home wifi, had to switch it off and on again to get it to work. I'm pretty sure the 10.5.8 release was supposed to fix some airport issues, not make them worse... ah well, at least it's working now...

airport tends to get weird on updates here too. try deleting saved networks in your network/airport preferences. that usually helps.

Yeah I'm still on X.5.6 and don't plan to change unless someone gives me a pretty compelling reason

last time I did an update on my partner's macbook we totally lost airport on it, and I rang Apple and they said it must be faulty hardware - and applecare ran out a month earlier!

Anyway, after more fishing around I found it included a firmware update for Airport and I found a way of reverting and guess what! it was fixed

when it comes to Apple software updates, it's always if it aint broke don't fix it IMO

just did it, so far all seems good here, can't really make out any difference... probably just worth it regarding the security update included...?

EDIT: no, just realized need to re-install my m-audio 2x2 midi driver, he lost it on the way...

Hey MacHeads!

There's one strange thing, besides the usual howling / whining on updates in the apple forum (99% due to scrambled before systems or incompatible 3rd party stuff / input managers...)

Read here "(solution" on page 4):

If you use airport on a macbook / pro there seems to be a "10.5.8 slow Airport when on battery" issue:

Working fine here, not seeing the slowdown on battery issue when connected to an Airport Extreme.

Airport is giving me issues with this version. I can't connect to some of my remembered networks and can't delete them from my lists.

I ALWAYS had issues with airport... consistently need to have another computer connected via wireless to my network to be able to join it.
