step 1: act like a asshole all the time
step 2: ask the promoter for coke and hookers (leave if he doesnt deliever)
step 3: play no longer than fourty minutes (you choose how crappy)
step 4: off you go in your 5 stars hotel (do the hookers and the coke)

I agree with everything you said except for this. The biggest problems I've ever had were from updates...mikemc wrote: Make sure you are using the most recent drivers (and firmware if your interface allows firmware updates).
If it works fine, don't mess with it.

Also, keep spare cables of what you use in your glove compartment in your car if you are traveling that way. You can easily lose your spare ones if you carry them around in your bag.
Turn off your screen/monitor everyonce in a while when listening to your own produced tunes in Ableton. You hear it better.
Try changing the gain and EQ first before slapping on a compressor.

If your stood on a busy London tube train in the 5 o'clock rush-hour and the doors open to the red face of an angry 'lahnden geezah' insisting you can move back into the carriage to let him in though he's not aware of the 3 foot tall gentleman behind you obstructing this action and he gets more and more frustrated at this non compliant man who can clearly move at least a couple of feet and let him in before the doors close and he misses his train home from work....
At no point, and I mean at no point is it cool to say in a loud clear voice;
"I can't move mate,.... there's a fuckin' midget behind me!"
It's just not pc these days...
So, being the 'make the world a better place' type I picked the midget up an stood him on the parcel shelf.
Not sure if it counts as advice but take what you will...

^that is a difficult situation, creative solution i think. Or you could have said over your shoulder "on the count of three, I'm going to crouch way down, and you give this guy the finger".

I don't disagree with your disagreeing, I was thinking of a particular situation so I should have said: "if you are having problems, before you freak out completely, make sure you are using the most recent drivers (and firmware if your interface allows firmware updates)."
The reasons being 1) it just might fix the problem and 2) if it doesn't and you need to call support, you can tell them you are using the most recent recommended version they supply.
