Maybe not a killer for everyone, but for me it is. :)
Though you could easily use MidiPipe to get it to send notes.

I'm pretty surprised there's not more usb powered foot controllers on the market, not just for use with Ableton but all the other software loopers and daw's out there.
The shortboard will work great for me now, but if there was an Ableton/Akai or other collab foot controller a la apc40, with max4live expansion capabilities, etc. I'd be all about that shit.

Please note that once you replaced the FCB1010 firmware with the UNO one, you can do pretty much what you want, including momentary switching (instead of toggle).
Furthermore, you have 10 banks (instead of 1), 2 expression pedals (instead of 1), the ability to send anything you want (CC, but also note on/note off events, program changes etc ... . Finally programming it is really easy if you use one of the software editors you find for free on internet.

Ok, on the other hand : program it without a software editor is a pain in the a**, you need MIDI inputs on your interface, and it's externally powered so the line 6 has stuff going for it as well, but I'll stick with my FCB personally ;-)

Heh! Gave me an idea to finally put the nano pad to use! ;)

I was looking at Native instruments Rig Kontrol 3 (the latest version outputs midi and has a midi editor) But its not cheep, and you get a sound-card which I don't need. the new Line 6 series is the answer to that. though am I the only one looking for something much smaller then this? It could be just a 30x1 cm long metal tube, with foot buttons. Make it a possible T shape foldout, and add a spring to that for modulation pedal function.. then it would fit in the hand luggage, together with the the nanos and the laptop on flights! Usually when I fly to gigs, I only bring hand luggage. I don't want my eyes to leave my gear, and im usually returning the next day anyway, so don't need to bring much clothes etc. Cant fit these huge pedal devices.

Can any of these USB foot controllers used for MIDI sustain?

I noticed ebay has a whole pile of USB foot switches, starting at $3. I wonder if anyone managed to use one of these USB cheapies for keyboard sustain control?
