Able-Tones Music fest SIGN UP HERE :)....................
I'd like to get involved, collaboration is the root of all great ideas!
I'm a visual artist (check out my site if you want) with a background in piano /keyboard, some guitar.
my web host is pretty crappy and won't allow me to have media files but my latest composition is something like this: take a slightly offbeat snare marching drum, add some classical grand piano, and then add wierd circus accordian music.
I'm pretty much a digital newb tho.
1)keyboard
2)mixing
3)found sound/arranging
hope you can find a place for me...

how many people on each team? Maybe 5 would be a good number... in theory we could have as many teams as we want though, just decide on a deadline for signing up.sweetjesus wrote:Cheers,Tommy Genes wrote: I agree with sweetjesus that we need some way to actually form the teams. I've seen other attempts at this sort of thing where you just ended up with a forum thread full of people saying "I'm interested", but no one actually forming into groups.

2 ways i envision - make a thread for each team (Team A, Team B) and if someone want's to be part of a specific team make an additional post in the related thread.
Otherwise, when it seems as though we have enough people to contribute, I will make a simple page on my server where you go there, click on the team you want to join and then type your ableton nickname and your email address and your skills and voila it puts you on the list of that team.
Maybe somebody could take charge of the whole thing and pick who's on what team (try and share around the different skills?)
Dunno just thoughts...
Yeah, I'm thinking this forum, anywhere, is not a really good place to organize all of this.
I could provide server space, the problem is I have very little time right now to create the website. I've mentioned before about setting up a site where we could all share presets and clips anyway, so maybe this would be an extension of something like this.
I run a webhosting service for some local businesses. I'm just SWAMPED right now.

The question is not whether or not you are influenced, but rather what it is that influences you.

Not readily.... It's a linux server, so I'd have to install ChiliASP or the like to get anything working with ASP.sweetjesus wrote:basetwo, my host only has php, i'm much better with ASP.. can your server handle that?
I could probably get it set up with a pre-made CMS, though. Something like Mambo, or Drupal, or even PHPNuke. Then we could add forums, file sharing, and other collaboration modules.
Not sure what would work best with setting up teams though.

chris cowie, i have heard good things about you and google just added to the respect. great to hear you're on board!
basetwo, wicked i think we should communicate a little more outside of this thread in the next few days, i'm pretty good as a consultant and figuring out what technology is best used where etc. so i'm sure we can find some kind of open source out of the box solution for what we would like to achieve, hell maybe eventually it could be developed into a remix team platform
as i said my php skills suck, but i am an asp whiz.. however it took me an hour to learn how to do basics and database stuff in PHP, since it's scripting i cant imagine more advanced stuff being TOO difficult to implement. Heck I hired a php guy for a job i recently did and i was able to point some bugs out just by skimming through the source so I think I can be useful in some ways with your linux server and this remix fest.
thing's are heating up

Yeah, let's work something out via email, etc. If anyone else wants to be in on setting up a website PM us.sweetjesus wrote:basetwo, wicked i think we should communicate a little more outside of this thread in the next few days, i'm pretty good as a consultant and figuring out what technology is best used where etc. so i'm sure we can find some kind of open source out of the box solution for what we would like to achieve, hell maybe eventually it could be developed into a remix team platform
I'll start looking at the open source stuff out there and see if there is something that will fit the bill. No use re-inventing the wheel.

Sounds like fun.
Depending on the amount of time needed to put in, I may be able to offer some services.
My resume:
*ahem*
Guitar (all styles)
Bass (all styles)
Keys (electonica, no Liberace stuff)
Some Vox
I have produced demos for R&B and Hardcore bands so I am eclectic in styles of music. At this point, only computer based electronica music since I sold all my hardware gear.

hi astral,
i think once I start to get the web stuff happening with basetwo, that will provide the foundation for building the teams.
once the teams are built (am assuming early next week) the respective teams can co-ordinate things with their teamleaders and the teamleaders can chat with each other and make some kind of schedule after evaluating their respective situations and teams since every team will have their own unique advantages and disadvantages based on the members. .
