I have problems with absynth, massive. I really try hard with them, because i have limited myself to ni komplete and ableton, but the sounds often have a colour i dont like. i really dont know if its just me or them.
i think both massive and absyth use samples as their oscillators. maybe this is why you dont like them.
i could never get good classic synth sounds out either.

Massiver is a wavetable synth a little like the PPG, Absynth can use samples, waves, or you can draw the wave yourself. Neither are trying to emulate analogue synths. Though maybe filter wise Massive is.

No. Absynth uses dsp oscillators, though it can use samples too.
Alchemy, like massive, uses single cycle waveforms.
