If you feel you have reason to believe this slowness issue indeed is caused by Yosemite, you could Time Machine back to Mavericks or re-install that. It's a pain to have to do that, but sometimes you have to.
I did something like that a few years back when I got OS X Lion. The OS X version from hell if you ask me (I'm sure many others would have agreed). I downgraded to SL and had a great machine for a few years.

Re: Yosemite problems?
I really dont know what to try. The laptop gets used exclusively for music. Everything worked 100% before Yosemite and now the only thing giving me trouble after is Live. Since nothing else is giving me trouble but live I have a hard time believing its a problem with the SSD. Possible but highly unlikely. I haven't installed anything new in live in regards to VSTs, ETC. I literally just use it to chop up tracks, make mixes, etc. What else to try?Stromkraft wrote:
You clearly haven't done that here so I don't know what that has to do with anything. I thought you were, you know, actively trying to find the cause of your issues and finding a workable solution. Not true?

I guess from now on I should start backing up with TM...Stromkraft wrote:If you feel you have reason to believe this slowness issue indeed is caused by Yosemite, you could Time Machine back to Mavericks or re-install that. It's a pain to have to do that, but sometimes you have to.

The best is usually removing/trying one thing at a time to see if that makes a difference.William Gibson wrote:I really dont know what to try. The laptop gets used exclusively for music. - Boot from another disk, possibly with Mavericks
- Try another audio interface
- Install the Live beta
- make another user and try Live from there
- remove all VSTs temporarily
- Turn off AUs
- Re-installing Live and everything else
Make some music!
