Live 6???
So you're saying that the answer to my question is that there are usually four quarters in an average year? I've always found fractions so damn hard.loophead wrote:I find it really sad that so many - posting in a music creation related forum are not able to properly count to 4 (or divide 12 by 4 or 12 by 3) !

For those of you who are stupid people - and we know who you are -You aught to really listen to your parents when they tell you to stay in school and study hard so you will be able to get a real job that will put food on the table.
Hopefully you will be able to write your name nice and clear on the application - they probably wont accept a mere 'x'

So which Interface works best with Live?
Well I have been using M-Audio Quattro for quite a few years now since I started messing with Digital Recordings and so far Ihave not had any problems. But then again, one can't miss something one has never had. So what works best, anybody?

...but I'm really struggling to count how many inputs there are on it. I've been using the fingers on both my hands, and I think it's FOUR... can somebody confirm?

I suggest you ask your boss's accountant next time. It all revolves around taxes. If fiscal years were, as you suggest, completely arbitrary on the part of the company in question, why would there even be a "third quarter" reference when it could mean any part of the @$#$#! year the company felt like making it?snowtires wrote:notice that says it's the united states governments' fiscal year, as in, that's how the government works. companies in the private sector can start pretty much whenever they want or whenever makes the most sense for them, at least that's what i was told when i asked my boss about it, because our months end on fiscal day 23 or 24, and begin on day 3. so, like, tuesday could be day 24 for august and wednesday could be fiscal day 3 for september, even though both days actually took place in september.bathyscaaf wrote:From WIKIpedia:Danny Futuro wrote: 3rd quarter starts in november i believe.
"Such fiscal years are typically numbered using a calendar year and quarter thereof. A fiscal quarter is 3 months (1/4 of a year). For example, the United States government fiscal year for 2006 ("FY06", sometimes written "FY05–06") is as follows:
* 1st Quarter: October 1, 2005 – December 31, 2005
* 2nd Quarter: January 1, 2006 – March 31, 2006
* 3rd Quarter: April 1, 2006 – June 30, 2006
* 4th Quarter: July 1, 2006 – September 30, 2006"
From the US Senate (http://www.senate.gov/reference/glossar ... l_year.htm):
fiscal year - The fiscal year is the accounting period for the federal government which begins on October 1 and ends on September 30. The fiscal year is designated by the calendar year in which it ends; for example, fiscal year 2006 begins on October 1, 2005 and ends on September 30, 2006.
Check the fiscal year for Germany -- it is possible it is different.

I mean, come on!
Fiscal quarters are all very well and good, but when software companies quote quarters for release dates they generally refer to the actual calendar year.
Fiscal quarters vary widely worldwide, and even within countries. In New Zealand for example, the calendar year starts Jan 1, the business (tax) year starts April 1, and the goverment year starts July 1...
And my wife is Chinese, so then there's that whole Chinese calendar to deal with...
Anyway, when Ableton say Q3...they mean July/Aug/Sept.
cheers.

I find this interesting. Last year, they had already introduced live5, and the beta was underway this weekend; all in the effort to reveal LIVE5 by the summer NAMM show. Now, they are perilously close to NAMM, but everyone is clammoring for the new LIVE, because they they expect it. BUt everyone is so ready to say that LIVE6 is too early, that they haven't finished fixing live5, etc...
My guess is, is that they may have listened to the naysayers, and will release live6 later than NAMM, because of all of you shitheads who can't get your systems working with the latest releases. Bahhhhhh.....
