Talk about how easy it is to brainwash the masses. Did you know that its an official Apple policy to brainwash their users in to doing a lot of their PR for them. its worked like a charm.

maybe a brainwash.. =) but i think in a good way ...hehehe

If you don't need portability, definitely buy an iMac.

Indeed. No offense intended to the original poster, but that statement of laptops no longer being laptops but "notebooks" instead in the most stupid thing that has ever been said. What shockes me the most is that there's people that think it's ok.
Turn up the radio. Turn up the tape machine. Look into the sunset up ahead. Roll the windows down for a better taste of the cool desert wind. Ah yes. This is what it's all about. Total control now.

i know, i feel the same way everytime people go out of their way to attack macs and mac users.

what seems like the biggest waste of time is how much people that don't have first hand experience with really using macs like to spread the attacks.

i have first hand experience using a macbook and ibook on a daily basis for music. up until 2 years ago my music setup was PC based. i use a dual-core based PC at work all day long and use a dell laptop around the office for some other stuff.

when i see unfounded rumors like "macbooks run so hot they melt the skin right off of your hand. that is why they redesigned the keyboard, so the melted flesh drippings can't get trapped underneath and are easier to clean off once they dry." i take the time to offer up real personal informed experience. there is a lot of bad information out there. a lot of pc users seem to have made it their mission in life to try to dissuade anyone from even considering making the switch. i do not understand that.

Sorry guys,

while I want to thank everybody who gave me suggestions, I am amazed to see how many off-topics replies this topic had stimulated.

Personally, being a guitarist, I really like the way Brian touches its strings.

I saw a lot of biased (bad and good) reviews about new Mac product line and I do not wanna be a wanna-be anymore (sorry for the pun) but I do not want to waste my money on release 1 of something. I have no time to troubleshoot a piece of hardware or software, after 8 or 9 hours in the office I want to sit at my 'home studio' and enjoy, compose and forget about everything.

I work in the software industry so my primary source of info is osnews.com site.
While browsing I saw Brian Mac Pro review.

On this Ableton forums I learnt about the existance of www.appledefects.com.
I keep in high consideration what all of you think.
Suggestions, experiences, are pure gold to be shared on this forum.
I want a Mac. I was ready to buy 1 year ago but then came the rumors about intel switch. I waited.

I apologize if my quest for infos turned into a PC vs Mac debate or trolling at some times.
Some of us has problems with Mac Intel and some Audio interface. It has been reported here.
It seems there's no commom experience or common point, it depends on a high number of variables like controllers, VSTs, Audio Hardware, MIDI Hardware, drivers (that wicked piece of software that make things worse) and the like.

I think iMac might be a better investment for 7200RPM drive, and the price, icluding Core Duo 2 processor on board. I play at home. No stage anymore. But it's hard to resist the temptation of a MacBook for it uses less space and it is such an eye candy..

I really would like to know at this point (I need two in two out interface) :

Will my M-AUDIO MIDISPORT 2x2 work on Intel-Macs? I know they provide drivers but what about the real experience?
If my FCA202 latency will be worse on Mac than it is in WinXp what FW Interface it's better to aim for?

- Thanks again
