i understand your point here, but it doesn't seem all that feasible for ableton to recommend a hardware setup in terms of motherboards etc. given the frequency with which hardware is updated/improved on pc's. the reality is that even to recommend one board they'd have to test it for a lengthy period of time and it'd probably be outdated by the time they recommended it.

and as much as it'd be nice nod to their users to provide that sort of information they'd only do it if it was either a strategic economic partnership or if specific hardware requirements had to be met (as is the case with protools). simply spending money to test if live will run on a machine that says it's specced to run windows, and getting no obvious financial return from it is ludicrous.

i guess you already know this, but you might have got a more 'positive' response if you hadn't spammed all the forums. and don't spam my pm's again ok....

Users already made a list, it's the "Live Five Performance Test" thread.

I agree with all of the negatively stated posts against this thread, 'nuff said on that.

It would just be more crap for customers to whine about (they said it would work but it's not). There's absolutely no reason for the Abes to concern themselves with these kinds of details. In business it's wise to not give too much detail to customers, it's just more rope to hang yourself with. Plus they have no control over the quality of hardware and how someone clown monkied with his motherboard.

well said kung fu masta,

Similar to DUC (digidesigns forum for windows)

these threads have done wonders for the windows pro tools community.

they are the:

Best laptop thread

and

best desktop thread

they are stickied, would be nice to get a sticky of the performance thread for live 6 once released and tested.

the user world is far less limited than the company testing their software. The whole world can test and compare specs.

It would be nice to get a windows: best assembled desktop thread for those who are interested in building a computer dedicated to L6.

check out the DUC threads I mentioned

The only list they should have is "incompatible hardware"
I could care less about the 1000+ devices that WORK. Just the 2 that don't.
If there is something that we've all found NOT to work... thats worthwhile info.

Does anyone know of any motherboard that is up the spec (with minimum requirements) that doesn't work? Not me

Try to understand the point of this thread instead of using it as an opportunity to elevate your self-esteem.

Not the best point ... but valid.

it's accountability, if the Abes put it in black and white they have to support and maintain that data. Given the thousands of people that check here it's pretty amazing at some of the stuff people get on about, sometimes it's ridiculous, but hey, it's an open forum. But I'm not really sure what your reply means.

No man, you misunderstand me, sorry if my writing was bad, it's monday, work sucks and I've got a wicked hangover. I don't use the internet to elevate my self esteem, flame wars are bad for everyone. I use the forum to learn and help with Live. My dumb ass high post count makes me a constant target for people to shit on me, I wish the Abes would turn that feature off. I don't like it when things get shitty between people, bad mojo, bad vibes, nobody needs that. If I were to go off on you (which is lame) there'd be name calling and whatnot, it's all just my opinion.

Honestly, I've been an engineer for 10 years (no, I'm not special, I have some insight to share), I'm involved in product development, there have been times when I'd be excited about a hidden/suprise/unintended feature and mum's always the word on letting marketing, customers and sometimes even manufacturing know about it, too much information can lead to a lot more work.

There are a lot of cool, funny, super TALENTED people here, let's keep the vibe mellow. I don't need this shit on a monday night, neither do you.

See you around the forum.

Cheers for the response,
and your input.
It is very valuable.

THIS FORUM IS THE BEST.
peace

I get asked about this by every cat who has a demo cd.

I am going to include this info
and .als files on my website as part of
my FREE digital DJTools section to promote remixing.

Cheers

wha?

Are you just mad that everyone got tired of reading your damn thread spams on every other thread from earlier today, because you didn't get enough responses on this thread or something?

there are better ways to initiate conversation.

to stay on topic, I think there should be a sticky thread, like one that you mentioned, but it should be the responsibility of users

and DKF at least put the closest thing to what you are looking for in his sig.

as someone here once said, "why is there sand in your vagina?"

and why am i a "hippie" ?

i agree. there are too many processors, motherboards, hd, soundcards, midi interfaces, etc. etc. etc. for abelton to test them all. not to mention the hundreds of thousands of different setups to use them in. as far as pc is concerned, dont know a whole lot about macs.

i mean, look at all the different setups everyone is running in the threads. i have yet to find 2 people running the exact same setup.

if everyone was running the exact same setup, it would be easier to figure out whether the bugs were hardware or software related. but i dont think everyone is going to conform to one specified system, regardless of whether or not ableton recommends certain setups and configurations.

this is why we have forums, for people to say, "hey, im having this problem. anyone else experiencing it too?"

if ableton were to do it, as one had mentioned, and i forget the name, sorry. live would cost 3 times as much as it does now.

lol yeah Ableton should test every hardward/software combination and
report back on which is best...... They should do this every week to keep up
with the hardware market. Then they should also investigate any problems
with given hardware and fully review every piece so that we can best make
our own choices.

or....

u could just look at places which specialise in this kind of thing.

There are billions of different hardware combinations.....
Want to know the best? spend $10k and see how u go.
Want a decent computer? spend $2k and do fine.
Want an expensive computer? buy a mac :-P
