Post by BinaryB » Mon Sep 25, 2006 6:42 am

This Poll is aimed at networking information and responses or ideas to improve the machines that ARE running ableton. simple.

Should ableton Publish a list of

ableton
approved/suggested
hardware

?

EXAMPLE...

Motherboards...
Motherboards...
Motherboards...
and the usual...
Laptops,
Soundcards,
Midi Interfaces,
Midi Controllers.

Did I say Motherboards...?

That would help.

Stop spamming all the forums mate...

There's no point for Ableton to test every single piece of hardware. If they could do that. We wouldn't be beta testing.

um, don't they already sell bundles with hardware (even through the website)? wouldn't you imagine those are 'approved'?

wouldn't a poll like this be easier to interpret if it didn't have 3 different yes answers and 2 different no answers? I mean.... it's off balanced for one and for another you don't need more than 1 yes and 1 no slot.

They're not even capable of maintaining a list with compatible software, let alone hardware.

There is a list with hardware used with Live though. http://www.teragon.org/wiki/index.php?t ... rdware_FAQ

you're right they should spend a ton of money having someone try all the hardware and all the software available so that they can tell us that everything works fine. don't forget they'll have to buy every computer out there and buy all the controllers available and then spend years testing, by which time all the gear they've tested will be outdated and we'll be using 14core computers.

too many variables. software has as much of an effect on "compatibility" as hardware.

to employ someone to test ALL possible configurations of hardware and software would probably mean doubling the price of the application.

do you want Live to be a $999 application?

i don't.

That is a DUMB way to do it...

JUST ONE TEST to approve ONE MOTHERBOARD

is a better way to achieve an improvement on nothing.

dont mock me, shut up and vote.

Sorry Adam,
This is not my aim.
I would just like a machine to run ableton on.

If i had an approved motherboard ...

I would build it... and they would come.
