I didn't do it... nobody saw me do it... you can't prove a thing!
But seriously, folks... the sex on the beach case is a big issue here. I'm glad to see that they're making an example of ignorant Western offensive behavior.
Today I was having lunch in a room with some Emaratis when some Hulk Hogan reality show came on the TV. I wanted to disappear into the ground in embarassment at being American...

fuck that place!! completely the opposite of my town.
here you'd get thrown in jail for pushing your religious views on other people and applause and a scorecard for banging your chick on the beach ripped drunk smoking a fat joint.

fuck religion. we played in marocco a couple of weeks ago, during ramadan. Here a video of the soundcheck being interrupted by the muezzin for evening prayer. we were obviously not allowed to do soundcheck while the guy was shouting.

And come on, what kind of sense makes this: They don't allow to eat during the day, they don't allow to smoke during the day, and they don't allow to touch a female person.
Then on the party nearly only male guys and nobody is drinking. Also everything full of police (but that's not because of religion, but because of dictatorship...)
I am so glad that I don't have to live there ....

I'm glad to be here. Interesting culture and people, great geographic location, tons of activities, great job, fantastic food, plenty of tax-free cash.
And I'm responsible enough to learn and respect the local culture. I wish I could say the same for other Westerners around here.

I'm glad you don't, too. It's comments like yours that typify ignorant Western attitudes.

a beach without beer and boobies is like a day without sunshine.

Try looking up what the ramadan's about.

hehe, sorry guys, but I am definetly not an ignorant westerner. .... I just believe that neither islam nor christian nor any other religious ideology is good for me ... and I am glad that I don't live in a place where they make that stuff really oppressive. Though spain can be scary as well ...

Come on Hambone. You're not really that conservative?
Your self hatred is just so Catholic. Although, I pegged you for a Mormon.

Me? Conservative? Nah. Just respectful of the culture of others, especially when I'm a guest in their country.
And I'm an undecided borderline agnostic/athiest!
