Also, Johnny Lydon is a one of a kind, it's too bad it seems a lot of celebrities have tried to match his attitude. There really should only be one Rotten IMO. PIL were amazing though. I still love 'Metal Box/ 2nd Edition' and Flowers of Romance, groundbreaking stuff.
Lydon is a self absorbed cunt. I love the line in that interview "excuse me for talking while you were interrupting."
Sure, but he's as famous for being a self absorbed cunt as he is for being in bands. That, was my point.
Still doesn't do anything to discredit 2nd Edition though, great record, one of my top five post punk records of all time. Metal Box version is better, serious heavy bass in that mix of it.
Scott nathaniel sez it best AFA this whole deal IMO. Though I have no opinion on BBT's music, not my cup of tea.

MW - you're making assumptions that you have no clue about. your argument is based around him using celebrity to get contracts. there's no basis for that whatsoever. if the interview shows one thing it's that BBT would probably rather kill himself before pulling a move like that. drop the hate for a second and think about it.
I don't think Billy Bob is trying to use his celebrity, that's not the point. The point is that he can't avoid his celebrity, so it's a bit disingenuous to gloss it over. He shpuld be happy he's getting any airtime at all because I don't think he'd be getting much otherwise. That's not to belittle his music endeavors; they're just not that exceptional.
I'm sure it's frustrating to have to deal with your fame 24/7, but he signed up for the job. It's probably frustrating to have people insinuate that you're band is famous because of your fame outside music, but as I said before being gracious is a better approach IMO, though having a bad day with the constant celebrity quotes etc. is human.

Well, I saw the interview and all I can say is that Billy Bob looked like a mentally unstable, bitchy, babyish diva, who exemplifies why people hate assholes = who cares if he doesn't want to talk about it, is he such a wimp that he cant engage without making the rules up himself ahead of time??? He tries to put out a tough, rockabilly image, but Canada just got a laugh out of the total limp dick that is BB

here's a good example of why BB has a point...
remember how lame marky mark's music was? well, he turned out to be a shitty actor too.
(i guess there is no point there. sorry.)

when BB insisted he grew up as "a student of music history" (whatever that means), it reminded me of tom cruise going off the reservation with matt lauer and insisting that he has "studied psychiatry" (and therefore has a right to be an asshole and publicly deride brooke shields for, gasp, taking an antidepressant). wackjob. so insecure to have to insist your interviewer acknowledge how "studied" or "expert" you are at something (thou doth protest too much). not that i'd give a shit if either had, but did i miss it when BB got his doctorate in music history and tom got his MD? because clearly each of them deserves it. i bet they're surrounded by starfuckers nodding about how intelligent they are.

so i watched the interview online, in the same awkward silent atmosphere there was in the actual studio.
then i flipped on howard stern and they were playing it and laughing out loud through the whole thing. that was a funny contrast.
BB thought he could steamroll that interviewer because (I assume maybe?) he's not that well known. but the guy handled it really well and BB just looked like an ineffective bully.
(would have been damn funny if stern had been interviewing him. the whole interview would have been how he has to be kidding thinking anyone would or should magically forget that he's a famous actor. like he'd have a chance in hell of selling a single record. i'm not knocking the music (though i'll say i don't like it). just saying that basically no one has a shot in hell of selling records.)

haha this is hilarious. tone deft must be blind. it couldn't be any more obvious that billy bob is a total douche, and wants to run from the fact that his music career would be nowhere without his lucky oscar 15 years ago.
it's sad, too. i thought he was a fine actor, but it's hard not to lose respect for someone after watching them behave like that.
tone, why are you defending him so passionately? what stake do you hold in this? if the guy wants to ruin his career, let him.

Anyone that's had their cock inside Angelina Jolie gets my undying respect.

Here's the thing. If Billy Bob was not a total dick he would have shrugged off the mention of his acting and been a pro and went on with the interview. Instead he made a scene in front of a live national audience. Gian was a pro, he stayed calm and tried to salvage the interview. And before anybody goes dissing Canadians I would like to remind you that Abelton Forum championed Deadmau5 is Canadian.

OK I just flip flopped!
Besides, most of you are taking this way too seriously. We don't know what was said before air time, we don't know much really, and I do believe people are allowed to be human and get fussy inappropriately sometimes. Most of the time he seems OK. Plus the guy had kinky sex with Angelina Jolie.

As a Canadian I feel it would be wrong to not even the playing field a bit:

Check out the guy in the red shirt...your host. That said though I think BBT is a moron.

Is that a good thing or a bad thing?

He really is such a huge INSECURE prick. Fully half of the interview was him being an asshole which only forced the interviewer to bring up
the very subject his moronic agents insisted was taboo.

I didn't even notice what it was he was so upset about until it was brought up. It's not like the audience is not gonna remember he was a so-so actor turned shitty drummer! I feel pity for the other genuine musicians in that "band".
