I like the challenge of not consolidating/resampling anything (although I'm using *a lot* of liveFX to make up for it
Also, I have to avoid using that midi-loopback trick, because not everyone has virtual midi drivers, and the als won't run properly without some kind of setup.
I love having a bunch of rules, that modify the way I use the program.
Also, because of those rules, I have to get used to editing in the arrange view, something I've only done 3-4 times before...

Man...they're all one-shots...no loops.
Too much work for my lazy ass and limited time! I'm out.

It's a very nice idea but this has loopholes. What about somebody who has a nice p4 3.2 and decide to crank it up in the effects departement?
An MP3 contest would have been nice (maybe next time?). Even using only the one shots provided. You'd have to count on people's honesty not to use any other samples than the ones provided.
I'll pass up on this one but have a good one with this contest.

It may not be perfect, but we will learn something out of it.
Also 'contest' is a big phraze. Not like there is anything to win except for experience.
You'd be amazed what you can do with 25 single shots

Well, we'd be doing what people are already doing, what with resampling and all.
I think of live like freezing and un-freezing tracks in Logic - if it can't handle the tracks and fx, then just resample on your machine, when it's time to share it, just delete the resamples and turn the mega-fx tracks back on.
My song is almost done, session view -wise and it's at 35% cpu (3 simplers, 4 impulse, 5 audio tracks, 16 live fx, none of which are reverbs and 1 midi effect). There are probably live users who can't run that, but at least they can render it

i'm out of the contest too, due to lack of interesting samples. some loops would have been nice too.
sorry =\

That's what I do to but I usually reprocess thoses tracks also
Anyway, I'll wait for an MP3 contest or so.

Well these samples are definitely run-of-the-mill and quite uninspiring, but I'm still going to give it a go.
Ugh. Wish people would let go of the past: the 909 sucks!

yep, yep, yep and yep. I guess that's why Painseeker called it a challenge...

personally I think the idea of using the included samples was the right idea, but the concept of a challenge is largely down to it's limitations
hearing there's no actual loops put's me off, I cant see how it can paint an accurate picture accross the board
what say we revise this as people are dropping out due to the samples - I think the best idea so far was using the live included samples - if there's any discrepancy between who's got what they're all easily obtainable - with a little communication it's easy to find out which couple of samples are needed extra - and in this way also consolodate should be allowed, we just send the new wavs with the als.
I haven't received the email yet, but I'm already put off by the feedback - if we just used the live samples nobody can complain and with a bit of creativity you can do alot with them.
Who's with me???
It would be a shame for the idea to get canned on account of the samples - there NEEDS to be loops, not just one shots.

Maybe we should stick to the plan but embellish it with previous suggestions. maybe every participant supplies a loop to whoever is responsible for distributing.
Although the thread's title suggest you use your creativity, this does not mean we are bound to one project. I think everyone is still open to suggestions.....
