In Britain, the wars that we lost in recentish history you won't hear about unless you are interested in History.

I also didn't know Britain lost any wars in recent history. I thought their new method was giving back colonized countries to the locals and letting them destroy themselves.

The weird thing about the Netherlands is that it was first a republic, and then, after Napoleon, it turned back into a monarchie.

Which it is, still up to today.

The royal palace at the Dam square for example, was first the city hall of Amsterdam, before it got confiscated by the oranges-nassau.

Not too recently, late 19th and early 20th century we were losing everything and didn't just give places back. We like to think we won WW2, but both Britain & Germany were completely crippled by it.
