Read my posts in this thread, I think the GUI is fine, but I think the User Experience as Angstrom posted is lacking in certain areas. In every single way, the actual ergonomics of a GUI are more important than the looks IMO.
Orvekio wrote: Self-righteousness is being portrayed here by many (and it isn't a bad thing, but a common thing for all, I'm guilty of it too) who wish to not see any other design ideas, which correlates with the definition of the term.
Ok you are dense. You also don't know the definition even though you posted it. Anybody can disagree with anybody on anything, that, in itself is not a self righteous act.
Here's the definition again from your own post.
confident of one's own righteousness, esp. when smugly moralistic and intolerant of the opinions and behavior of others.
Nobody made any behavioral claims on their opinion until YOU posted this, period. Simply put, no one questioned the behavior of people who want a new GUI in an attempt to paint themselves as on a higher moral ground, that was all you. You are the one that brought self righteousness into the discussion, because YOU can't handle it when people disagree with you obviously.
The pathetic part is you thinking you're "picking" on people for
their shortcomings.

LMFAO!

Serious? Let it go man. I don't even know you, just accept my apology and move on with your life. Trust me, I ain't worth your time amigo. But if it makes up for the unforgivable way I wronged you and set your life adrift, we can just not talk to each other anymore on these forums. I think everyone else on here would appreciate it as well. I will start right now.

You act like an ass, I'll call you on it. I expect the same from random people on internet forums.
Especially when my ego gets in the way of the conversation, like yours did here.

I do have an twisted sense of humor, but you do make me laugh, scouts honor. I would like to be your friend. But if you don't want to, PM me and I will give you my address and I will let you come to my house and kick my ass if it will make you feel better. We could even film it and post it here (to continue this Jerry Springer type thread). I hope you would rather be my friend tho. I don't like getting my ass kicked.

Can we have a poll on this?

If it will put an end to this nonsense I will even buy him a plane ticket.

It's just a conversation online, though it's tempting just for the humor of it to take you up on it. Learn to take a bit of criticism without getting painfully dramatic.
Lol again at drama queens!

Quite frankly the only thing I would change would be a mixer that can detach to have on a different monitor, or the option for arrangement and session to be split each on a different monitor... but with the ipad and touchable it is amazing and kinda gets rid of the need for a second monitor for mixer view.
I see people saying it is too simplistic and looks novice.. quite frankly I don't' give a shit what the program looks like... It is about what it does and how you make it work for you.. I would die if there were any major changes in GUI... It is simple.. you know where things go in the routing sense, and it is completely flexible and can be adaptable to any user that uses it... you form what you want.. and aren't forced into specific set way of working things... that is was makes it adaptive, unique, and fully customizable. And once you spend over 5 years with it... taking various classes on it... you really start to realize how once you actually learn the software and the shortcuts... its very efficient, simple, and doesn't take going thru tons of menus and various tick boxes to make things work...
Just what I was thinking..
really more about what comes out of it.. and how you work with it... rather than what it looks like.. and I think if that changed dramatically it would really throw off those core users that really understand its possibilities while also knowing that although it may look simplistic on the outside... it is incredibly complex on the inside and still light years a head of its competition in terms of flexibility, ease of use, and everything working in sync.
I mean you can't go wrong with an APC 40, Launchpad, Midi Keyboard, and an Ipad... Everything just WORKS!
blahh..

don't care for a new GUI though I'd like to see some tweaks here and there to improve usability..
• the Session and Arranger mixer should have a slightly different background color..
To distinct it more from the Session clip area and the Arranger lanes..
Currently it's just a sea of grey which makes it quite hard to navigate visually..
• an additional track title header at the bottom of the Session mixer..
Working on 24" screens or even larger has widened the distance between the track header and Session mixer..
This makes it very hard to see which track you're working on..
Therefore I suggest a collapsible track title footer at the bottom of the Session mixer..

If no new interface, at least provide GUI source code so programmers like myself that make our own solutions.

i don't have any issues with the gui, itself. however, it would be really cool to be able to set the colors for each element in the GUI. the ability to create/save your own presets, rather just select from themes, would also be really nice. it would make setting up presets for certain environments very nice, and definitely would improve the chances of the user being happy with the aesthetics of the application.
and more color options in general, please!
