Live 3 - OSX performance and optimization

I certainly find it faster than OS9. And more enjoyable. And prettier

Can't wait till people start implementing some of the REALLY fucking cool features of Cocoa/Objective C programming

Is OSX is faster than 9.2?

On my powerbook book g4/500 i run OSX and 9.2
and i do not see a big difference in speed.
I mostly still use 9.2 because it "feels" faster.
I think this is because of the 8 mb videocard.
Everytime apple promises a faster OS(panther) but what they
forget to say is you need a bigger and faster computer(mac)
to run it on. I am glad i can still use my 9.2 system.
Do do don,t believe the hype.

Well since Live 3 won't be AltiVec optimized, then using OS 10.3 Panther might provide a significant performance boost alternative instead.
Here are some posts from an OS 10.3 developer about the greatly improved performance of Panther including much more efficient Core Audio:

By and large the vibe is that the speed jump between 10.1 and 10.2 is noticeably larger than the jump between 10.2 and 10.3.

That said, 10.3 feels snappier overall.
