The war economy has been going on since WWII. Hitler's geopolitical war was economically motivated and about access to energy-oil. The U.S. built a huge defense system that has since become the backbone of our economy. Eisenhower warned us of an "Industrial-Military Complex" - and now it is the core of our troubled economic infrastructure. Those tax cuts hardly stimulated the economy in contrast to war.

And seriously- title of this thread? America Great Again? Oh goody, we get two choices again! A misrepresented America, again!

The problem is that if we elect a status quo democrat who doesn't really effect any significant change, people get complacent like they did during Clinton, and we end up with a guy like Bush who really fucks things up.
We need to elect someone who can effect the scale of change Bush has, but in a positive direction.

b0unce here is completely right. The majority of the voting America are all very superstitious, xenophobic, religious right (and left) morans and if it slightly changes this time, then we get the Democrats which is really the same difference.

And that is the main problem with American politics, we really do have only a two party system, both of which have been in control way too long. And if people where really smart they would see that we really need a new fresh change and maybe everone should start voting Libertarian or something. Because we've seen nothing much get done with either of the other two parties... just look at Congress, now democrat controlled, and what have they done? They're debated about whether they should debate about Bush wanting to go into Iran. They talk about getting speaker Pelosi a bigger jet, and they wondered for a moment how they misplaced 12 billion dollars in cash (literally cash; 360+ tons of $100 bills on pallets gone missing!) headed for Iraq, then decided to wash their hands to it because "it's really not that much money except when you look at it on Forklifts"

Time for a MAJOR change... but I fear thet majority of voting america is too complacent and fearful of change.

If the music industry had some balls, they could do a lot through us. Though the fcc and the corporate nature of these record companies have taken away important voices. I tend to think that was systematic. Imagine what our country would be like if not for the dissent and music of the 60's and 70's. I miss the hippies. And punk rock was a brilliant follow through. Hip Hop, though great sounding and fresh has nothing to show for it's influence. Rappers don't say anything for such a lyrical art. Bless the internet and its poetic dissenters.

So yes, we have a government problem, but we have a bigger problem with people. It's absolutely amazing the lack of outrage and protests.

I love hip hop very much. I just wish it could do more since it has so many ears including mine.

It can and does say plenty, yes. But as a cohesive voice, not so good. Almost every band or a large majority of them in the 60/70's shook their collective fists at the government. I'm 45 and making the comparison from my own subjective experience. But it is a very real observation for me.
