i didnt really care what they look like, im not into fist pumping Dj's...and im quite a static performer myself apart from sweat! (as mostly im concentrating on improvising i dont have time to dance around)..i was just listening and trying to see a connection to there movements and the music...its only amatuer anyway right?...no point in picking it to pieces when there just having some fun?

holy fuck, Blue Monday, same session, rough performance.

Bernard did not like his mic setup that day. Peter Hook, all new respect he and Stephen Morris seem to be the most professional, and Gillian doing her string thing, such a key to their sound.

I'm so junking out on NO. 8)

There's a thing when somebody posts a video with accompanying comment/critique, how it colors your response.

I watched this video for a little bit, and the appearance of what was going on was less the issue-- my impressions were

1) why four guys to do what you can do with a few tracks in a single instance of live?

and

2) another example of advanced technology being used to prove some people can't keep a beat.
UTENZIL a tool... of the muse.

Anyone arguing "but what about the MUSIC, it's all about the MUSIC!"... the music is pretty bad. Timing is rough in a lot of spots by seemingly everyone... Additionally, there's not much emotion or feeling in the sound.

Reality is, every town, everywhere, has some group or artist that is at this caliber. And 99% of them stay in the garage until they tighten up their performance and are making music that they KNOW people want to hear. It's like DJing back when everyone ONLY used vinyl - you stayed in the bedroom and didn't even attempt to get a club gig until AT LEAST you could beatmatch EVERY time.

Who wants to hear a poorly executed mix, or in this case, poorly composed and loosely played "song"?

for gods sake, man.

ok, i am the one who is arguing that it's about the music.

in this case, i too said i think the music sucks, (several times).

What i am saying is that it does not suck because the way the perfromance looks, which is what the OP is saying. This is bullshit in my opinion. To judge music with your eyes is foolish at best, damaging to music as a whole at worst. It's part of the reason we're in the mess we're in. No one cares about MUSIC, they want entertainment , which is a whole different artform, and not something i am into personally.

well, what do you mean when you say performance?

what does it have to do with laptops?

if i'm playing great music with my laptop and a controller and nodding my head, how is it worse than someone whose music is shit, but bouncing around the stage with a penis pump on?

this is a video not about laptop djing that illustrates exactly why laptop djs should really think about how they perform because as you can see even with hardware instruments your performance can suck royaly, so what makes us think that doin this on a laptop would suck any less.

peace and goodluck with your shows
