Here's a stupid question - has anybody called the cops? I haven't ordered one, so it really doesn't concern me, but the sensible solution is to go to the police on this one.

OR, get all the stiffed customers in the UK together to go to their corporate HQ all at once to protest. Make it a day trip. Maybe bring needlenose pliers, baseball bats, lighter fluid and car batterys too...

Good luck guys, and keeps us posted (no pun intended).

Siddhu
good luck with that, from all the cop reality shows we seem to get from yorkshire they seem to spend a huge amount of time chasing car nicking teenagers with baseball caps.

Have you seen a picture of this Gerard? Bound to wear a Baseball cap. Or at least be balding from where he used to. He'll be one of the ones who moved up a level since the yorkshire constabulary bought a helicopter and started catching all the car nickers. :P

Probably MCed once or twice at a couple of UK garage parties and met a 16yo electronics geek who went there with his older sister because he was under age and wanted to go out, then this Gerard character talked his ears off and promised him the world if he made him this thing the DJ said would be cool, when really the most he'd ever shifted was a few car stereos down the pub. Seen it all before, can see 'em a mile off

'ts grim oop north

but then Leeds did give us 20 20 vision, Ralph Lawson and the gang and Back 2 Basics - big Live advocates as well I believe....I heard Paul Woolford (bobby Peru, 10000 BC - also from leeds) doing a set on radio one and I'm sure I heard a bit of Ableton's Redux and resonator goin on there.

I called the number posted on the forum and spoke with Gerard Campbell, apparently he has been running into one problem after another trying to get these machine assembled, the main problem he said is the factory thats putting them together is having a hard time making it to the exact specifications, like the knobs and buttons and such. The difficulty is having the mass produced models just like the original one, and being a small company makes things more difficult to as well. I guess the fact that he got more orders than expected put more of a delay on it as well. Hopefully all this can get straightened out in the near future so we can enjoy a more unique controller.

That would be the same factory that ignores emails, misinforms about delivery dates and doesn't update their website to let customers know what is going at a guess. Factory assembled my ass.

yeah dude, he's feeding you a huge line of bullshit--I'm in the building industry and can smell that a mile away--classic pass the buck syndrome. His bs "excuse" doesn't account for the fact that their "customer service" is non-existent, or that they have taken money for goods that weren't delivered. Bottom line, if he didn't have his shit together to have the units at a given date, he should have never taken orders or money. If he would have just taken orders and not money, maybe people wouldn't get so understandably pissed. This is just bad buisiness.

An apology and explanation from Grex...

Post by thetonewrecker » Wed May 12, 2004 4:03 am

Well, this just arrived in my inbox moments ago so I thought I'd add it here..

*******************
Important info for all customers or interested visitors...

We should like to humbly apologise to all our waiting customers for the
non-arrival of their machines.

Despite the fact that the MXF8 electronics and software are fully
functional, we have been unable to deliver any machines due to manufacturing
problems with the stainless steel cases.

We have now moved all aspects of production build to a proven outfit who
have already shown that they can make the MXF8 to the standard required.

In this respect we intend to have machines ready for shipping in around 3 to
4 weeks time.

In the meantime all customers will be receiving full refunds until we can
guarantee the deliveries.

Should you wish to re-order a machine please email us so that we can reserve
a machine for you on the build schedule.

We will let you know as soon as possible when we can deliver. Once a
delivery is advised, you can then confirm your order and payment immediately
prior to shipment.

Contrary to the alarming, uninformed and innacurate opinions bandied about
on various forums Grex Ultra Dynamics Ltd is not an elaborate internet
"scam". We are a small company with performance and image orientated
products which we are only prepared to ship once we are satisfied that build
quality is up to standard.

Again, we would like to apologise for the delays.

************************

Sounds like they're trying to make the situation "right" after all.

Yeah, i got that too, even though i had to go through my creditcard company to get my money back a couple months ago.

Fucking jokers.

E-mail not even signed.

This is a Mickey Mouse operation who at best are incredibly stupid and at worst downright fraudilent.

There was no mention of any problems with the cases when they were sending the units out "tomorrow" about 3 months ago.

MORE LIES & BULLSHIT

I liked this bit...

Well if you informed people as to what the fuck is going on they would be better informed wouldn't they? If the web site reflected what the reality of product delivery was people wouldn't have to chase around getting their own money back would they? Do you have a habit of depositing hard-earned cash into other peoples accounts and expect jack shit in return, not even an acknowledgment?

also...

Golly gee! Thanks for letting us all know so quickly pal! Tell you whut, why don't you send an MXF8 to anyone that asks and they can pay you when their bank account status is up to standard? You just sit, wait and chase up your machines from anyone that doesn't appear to be playing ball.

I am one of the few people that received one of these, I can honestly say that it is a great machine that exceeds my expections of a midi controller. I had to wait a while to get one one but after all is done, I think its worth it. Hopefully everything else with the company gets straightened out, because it is the perfect compliment to live.
