If anyone here has thought about ordering the Grex MXF8, be warned they are not a legit company, they use illegal tactics resulting in them taking your money and leaving you with no product and unanswered emails. I repeat they are an internet scam.

did you have a bad experience with them? what happened?

this is an excerpt from their website:

We apologise to all our customers who have been kept waiting for machines since last month. We are pleased to announce that we can now start shipping all outstanding orders.

However, the knock-on effect of these unforseen delays is that there is now a 2 to 3 week waiting list for any new orders. We will keep you informed by email of the soonest delivery when you order.

While they may be legit... isn't that exactly the type of thing somebody who is scamming would say? Just to get people to wait two to three more weeks before cancelling their checks/credit card bills... glad it isn't me!

They charged my card in full, without the product even ready to be shipped. I patiently waited 3 weeks, I emailed them 8 times before they responded saying that there was a delay because of a bug, but they then said that the bug was fixed and they would start shipping the week after, and that I could expect it the following week. This was over three weeks ago. They have not responded to any emails since, my credit card bill is $500 higher, and I have no product as of yet. These are not the actions of a reliable company. I can understand bugs and delays, but to ignore a customers emails after charging their card in full with no product ready constitutes a scam as far as I'm concerned. It sucks because it really looks like the product that I seemed to be looking for as well. If it somehow arrives in the next week or two then that would be great, but I am not holding my breath on it. I may have to take a flight to th U.K. to kick some ass and slit some throats. Does this sound like a legit company here? it LOOKS like one when you visit their website, but what does that really mean?

You could always call the credit card company... I believe it is illegal to charge a credit card and not have a product delivered within 30 days to the customer. If they knew they were having problems they shouldn't have charged anyone to begin with.

Same thing happened to me, ive posted several times on this forum about it. Very ropey operation - no communication whatsoever and your creditcard gets debit immediatley even though they're plainly not shipping units at all.

I contacted my creditcard company & got my money back

Well, they have demo movies of it on the website & paula temple has played out using one so it definatley exists. But the organisation seems to be a complete disaster, this happened before with this company under a different name when they had the Notron sequencer - amazing product but so badly run that it folded.

I think this is part fault of ableton .....I dont think its is correct that companyes with questionable reputation put something in this forum for sale . it wouldnt happen if ableton had some kind of control where only people post non comercial messages . 8O

Call your credit card company and tell them exactly what happened. You'll probably have to write a letter (do it). They will either put pressure on the company to follow through, or they will credit your account even if the company has gone out of business. You don't need special insurance or anything. You are only liable for the first $50, but most credit companies will credit for the entire amount in the case of fraud.

i'm sorta kidding, but i'm kidding on the square. they have a history of releasing horribly buggy products (reaktor on mac is a bad as it gets), making claims that just aren't true (the absynth rtas situation), making horrible descisions (banning drum machines and synths from the reaktor user library) and their tech support is a joke. go peruse the ni forums. the difference between those forums and these are incredible. the ni forums are full of people just mad as hell at ni. there are some authorization stories that would would blow you away. my experiences with absynth have been almost comical. it hasn't worked on my last two computers, and i've been hounding tech support only to get a half-assed response every couple of weeks. i know there are some people out there who have had a lovely experience with ni, but there are more than enough horror stories and customer complaints for a caveat emptor, especially for the mac user.

I like the idea you had about going to the uk to kick their ass.
violence rarely solves anything but it sure feels good and who knows, maybe you'll get a few hundred dollars stuck on the end of your boot.

good luck and wear cleates.
