Does your cpu max out and stay there with one or only a few synths loaded? That's the problem i've been having. I have been looking into this and cpu throttling seems to be a factor on my system. I dld CPU rightmark Lite last night to see what was going on when the spikes occured and it seems like they were occuring when my cpu throttled down so i tweaked a few settings and also installed I8kfanGUI to control the fans and Live has been better since. My cpu is still spiking randomly but previously i would load up one instance of Predator and play a few notes and the cpu would max out. So already an improvement and i can now use Live 8. Actually i just reloaded the project and cpu use is normal. I think it be sorted.eliteforce wrote:A 'bugfix' is the wrong phrase I'm afraid. Live 8 brings my G5 to it's knees compared to previous versions it's such a CPU hog. Then there are the frequent crashes on trying to use pretty much any VSTs [all legit], especially the Native ones, & Virus TI is unusable it crashes so often.
So I've given up with it. I'm going back to 7 & to be perfectly honest it feels like a refund is in order. After all, if you bought the newest version of a car & when you got it it transpired they hadn't bothered to put an engine in it, you'd be rightfully annoyed.

Btw i was also getting frequent crashes as well.
edit: I know why it's not spiking anymore; i'm in vista sp1 compat mode so the combo of tweaking my cpus settings and compat mode seems to have done the trick. Cpu is now stable. Btw i'm on windows 7 but maybe this'll help someone. Peace.
