Crackle through monitors when triggering scenes?!?!

Post by Phantom Cosmonaut » Tue Nov 18, 2008 7:23 pm

Any suggestions/advice??

Sometimes when i trigger a scene i get a brief crackle through my monitors. It doesn't appear on the recorded track, but i can hear it live, which sucks, because i'm rehearsing for a live gig.

If i trigger clips individually, i don't get the crackle. I've tried using my mouse, and the touchpad on laptop, but it doesn't seem to make a difference.

Do you think it could be because of equipment set up? (ie: lappy too close to the monitors) or something to do with triggering multiple clips at once?

This is something i'd like to figure out before i start gigging.

I'm using a Presonus firebox for my sound card/audio interface out to Yorkville Powered monitors.

Probably CPU hogging is happening :)
Overloading and stuff. What's your setup?

well, i've got dual 1.66 processors, XP, 4gb ram, and i did notice that the cpu% was between 30-47% when this happened..

the scenes in general were running all midi clips (impulse, etc) and a few effects on each one.

if i group effects together on a track, does it use less cpu resources?

I've had this happen too, but haven't figured it out. Very random for me. Fortunately, it's never happened when playing live. Maybe because when I'm going on stage I get persnickety about turning everything off that I don't need. Don't do that during rehearsals. Probably the difference.
