Multiple Songs Mode
Multiple Songs Mode
I'm not sure how intricate this process would be, but here's my situation (and a lot of others that have this program that I know):
I use this live to control loops while I sing and play the guitar. I control Live with my feet using a basic MIDI foot pedal. As a result, I end up putting song upon song into a master file for a set list. Each song has certain tracks with certain levels set for the balance of the song. I also use a master file for Reason that is connected up to Live to mainly use pads from Reason.
With that as a background, what I would like to see is a way to group tracks and scenes of a song together so that at the push of a button all tracks of only one song would be armed and unmuted (implying that the other songs would then be unarmed and muted), ready to play only the clips from that one specific song.
I hope that makes sense. Please confirm that this makes sense when you get a chance.

Whatever solution would make switching to another song faster, would be welcome!

It wouldn't be simple, but if there was a way for live to have a "performance" mode where you can load multiple sessions, and live would be able to transition from those sessions and intelligently change channel routings that would be amazing.
Maybe there could even be a way to preload all plugins, and live could intelligently change the presets at user definable transition points?

MainStage-kind-of-functionality. Would be so cool...

...Or like the PlayList feature in Sonar, where you can create sets from existing projects. The projects will load automatically in the background and are available to play (automatically or on a keystroke) when the previous project stops. But again, Sonar projects are mostly linear, not loop based, so when the song ends it clear you want the next one. In Ableton might be harder to figure out when it's time to switch to the next...
Anyway, I'm sure developers will find a way.
Until then you can still load lots of tracks and clips in the same project if you want and mute/unmute start/stop entire groups of tracks with 1 or 2 keystrokes if you know how to assign key maps or midi maps... The problem is only that the file gets really big, and not only you load your processor and memory more than you like, but also you won't be able to see all of your tracks and clips in one view...

Great [Feature Request]. Some sort of Song List support. It's awkward and time consuming clicking to load the next song. It's quite strange that this isn't already a part of LIVE. Nobody just plays one song live. We play sets.

Here's my take on this idea:
Have a track similar to a group track, ie playlist track.
Playlist tracks allow you to load existing live files from the browser (similar to what happens in session view now, but of course we are talking about the arranger here), also retaining the tempo track
cheers

Re: Multiple Songs Mode
this is my biggets gripe with live, having to wait between tracks, while the next song loads! it makes is kinda hard (almost impossible) to play a really smooth, continuous set.
I've tried to reduce this by merging songs (2 or more) toether where possible, but I end up with really large files... and navigating/ making sure the bmp changes are correct is dangerous..
