Im not getting upgrade to 4

hello ...I'm a proud owner of live 3 . I love what live can do with audio. I mostly use live rewired to logic 6 platinum . with live i can time strech very easily and play with new ideas quick . I'm kinda desapointed with version 4 though . I know live is very simple to use and all that , but when it comes to arrenging its preety basic . in the past version it wasnt a problem since live was considered "LIVE" tool , it was neve that for me , i used it mostly as a sampler and time /streching tool . I'm kinda desapointed that you cant use more than 1 screen at the time , when arrenging you cant see whats going on on the clips window . 2 there is nothing new about live and midi....I thought ableton would come up with something inovative for midi , but no...same old ...same old . live 4 looks more like a FL studio or Project 5 , but nothing like logic or cubase . 3 no key comands ...no editing tools . the only thing i like is that finally its altivec optimized . I've had live longer than logic 6 , i love live simplicity and power , but live 4 cant really be compared to logic 6. if i had to upgrade i'd waitt to see whats NEW in live 5 ........for now my mony is going to logic 7 when it comes out , i know that logic will come with something new.....

thanks for letting us all know Zed, we were worried sick about if you were
going to upgrade or not, I personally was holding my check book in hand
and checking day and nite to see if you had posted yet and let me tell you
boy oh boy was I glad that I caught this before your post slipped through
the cracks.

why do these Jerry Springer rejects keep posting stuff like this , or a better question is how do they even know how to use a computer

sometimes I wish I could just buy some people a girlfriend to keep them
off of the internet.

dude...I'm so embarrased for you .......at least you could have some manners when posting something.......I was just sharing a thought , that's why we can post messages , i wasnt posting something not related to making music ....and dont you worry , some of us are very lucky to have in my case a boyfriend and a job making music in nyc . that doesnt mean i dont read messages for different websites . so relax .....show some class at least when writing something .

ops...I should have posted in another website , probably on osxaudio.com . probably you guys are just live users starting out and take everything so personal , thats really funny.......I use so many softwares and harware that cant remember and yet I dont take it personal when someone complains about something i use .....anyway , I'm sure you'll learn that when u get more experience producing music .........lighten up ......its not like you own stock in ableton ...hehehe

relax... here in ableton site theres a lot of motherfuckers fucking losers , assholes, little shits who don´t have a life and think Ableton is a toy that his parents gave them, ..just because they have one copy of live they think they can control and talk like if they actually are in Ableton team, why can´t someone what thinks on this update , why can´t someone express his opinion? ... im not impress too whit live 4 , and theres a lot of people that fell the same way, and a forum , you suckers is for for people post their thoughts , you don´t like , you stay whit your mouth shut...just reply to the ones you like

I think the issue is what is relevant and what is not.
I think that Zed and his/her boyfriend, the guy who can't spell have the live forum confused with a chatroom because they aren't saying anything relevant. You're right Zed, wrong forum.

Why is it the wrong forum?...He is talking about Abletons Live isn't he? He is expressing his feelings just like you express yours. What makes your comments or feelings (I don't mean you in particular Turkey Baster), more valid than his. He is a registered user who went out and spent his money just like everybody. Just because you and I may (or may not) like the update, that should mean he should only say good things or shut the hell up. I'm not into the whiners but I'm starting to feel you cheerleaders are even worse when it come to voicing your opinions. Are you the Ableton police? If they felt a post was way too severe to be on their forum I'm sure they would delete it. That is why it is a FORUM so people can debate thier views.

I'm actually suprised by one Live 4 Omission.
You should of had a drop down list of CC's for each VST and the ability to warp marker CC movements within a midi clip , toggle note on off position etc via warp markers etc like you can with audio.
Still don't know if I'll go Live 4 .
Jury is out on this one.

PS:Turkey Baster - life would be more fullfilling I hear if you aquaint yourself with a rather nice lesbian couple.

It's pretty easy to see why zed's opinion of the update is low. Firstly he doesn't use live to it's full potential. he doesn't use it in a live realtime fashion. therefore the ability to use a midi live in the same brilliant way you can use audio live would not impress him. he seems to prefer writing by dragging little boxes around or being limited by what you can actually physically play on the keyboard. Also since he already has Logic he can already play w/ softsynths and FX that accept midi key info, and since it seems that he fails to grasp the brilliance of clips, using said devices in live would hold no appeal for him.

personally i'm really pumped for the upgrade and wish i wasn't prevented from beta testing by my album deadline. I find that most live naysayers don't fully grasp the concepts behind why it works the way it works.

Whether you upgrade or not to version 4 it's important to note that the good people at Ableton are advancing their baby in leaps and bounds. It's good thing for all of us (they can cow us into upgrades). I though Live 3 was a significant upgrade and can't live without its features. I think Live 4 will be the same. They seem to be a step ahead of the game.

I like to think of Live as part of a arsenal of tools; each tool offers a different outlet for creativity. So Logic 6 offer a thousand little commands to do everything, i'm still finding new features after years of usage. But sometimes it good to break out of you're conditioned workflow patterns. I know some killer producers who use Live (not exclusively) to arrange tracks, it's wonderfully platform independent. Certainly you can use Live as a rewire plug-in for some great sample mangling.

Anyway, if you've got a better place for the money than the upgrade then you know it. Save you money then and invest in a good set of monitors. This looks like $120 i'm willing to spend. Fortunately I can play with the beta to figure out how soon i'll need it.

I know your comments are come from the right place willyum but look at Zeds comments and then at Fax-01's comments.
the difference is striking. one is a relevant comment and one is not. it should be easy to tell which is which. It's clear to me that zed only posted to tell people he's not getting Live cause he likes Logic 7

relevant is that? Maybe it has something to do with the beta in your opinion but in mine it doesn't. Tell me if I'm wrong, It sounds like he's saying no to the Live upgrade and yes to Logic 7 and he doesn't need Live
4, already makin a great musical living in newyork city.
