Does anyone know any ways to manual map midi controls in ableton?
Specifically I am trying to map different midi control messages from a lemur to ableton. When mapping x-y functions I've noticed that it's difficult for ableton to choose the right controller.
It would be a lot easier to manually enter control messages in the midi mappings rather than using auto mapping.
Complex structures are very difficult to map, such as step sequencers and bouncing balls.
Is there a way to create new mappings manual without having to click on the destination and play the signal from the midi device?
It is driving me crazy to map out complicated lemur templates.
Please Help!
thanks

As far as I know a mapping has to exist before you can manually edit it.
So you could quickly use one knob on a controller to map everything you want the lemur to control (resulting in everything being mapped to the same CC and midi channel).
Then go in and manually edit it all to receive on the channel and CC you want.

Doh. My bad. I could have sworn I had manually edited something once assigned.garyboozy wrote:you really should test your own suggestions before posting them, temp
Sucks that you can't even do that.

What I've done with my padKontrol sometimes (it also has an x-y pad) is I either deactivate the x or y axis when I'm mapping the control for the other axis, or I set a different controller (like a knob or a pad on the pK) to the controller number of the x or y axis, map it, then change the knob/pad back. That works well since the padKontrol is easy to program onboard, I don't know about the lemur though.
