How do YOU say it?........

Post by re.mark » Wed Nov 26, 2008 1:08 pm

'ROUTE' - as in to route the signal.

To me, I say it 'root' or 'rute'.
The pronunciation of it 'rauuwwwrt' or 'rowt' or 'raeiout' etc really annoys me.

How do you say it? Ive just watched a video on a Native Instruments product and the guys said the word 4 different ways lol

It is pron. 'ROOT' if you speak properly. This 'ou' to 'ow' thing annoys the crap outta me; 'ou' is the same as 'oo'.

You don't pronouce 'you' as 'yaow', do you? (unless you're from Birmingham!).

So, to conclude, route = pron. ROOT.

–verb (used with object) [root, rout]
4. to fix the route of: to route a tour.
5. to send or forward by a particular route: to route mail to its proper destination.

http://dictionary.reference.com/browse/route

Both are correct, apparently.

I say ROWT; get over it.

Route: (root) is in a journey or trip / distance..
Route: (rowt) is that thing that carpenters do to doors to make shapes and stuff with a router, is it not ?

The English language is messed up.

Thing that gets me is these words sound the same: Their, There, They're - must be confusing language to learn.
Macbook 1.83ghz. Ableton Live 8 :-). Guitars and keys and retro sh*t.

That's how I use them, yes.

But here the question is not how to pronounce 'a route' but 'to route'...
