Greetings everyone,
Ok so my current status. I successfully record 4 loop-able clips of audio and then built up 4 tracks by duplicating the loop-able clips back to back. Occasionally i leave out a clip or two on a track to make things more interesting. I know, pretty lame first recording, but I will figure this thing out with your help.
Now when I listen to all the tracks at once, it sounds like 4 individual tracks. Its sounds ok, but not "blended", for lack of a better word. Is this a common problem? How do I mix this into a final mix, is that called mastering?

Get a good book on mixing techniques. It will make a big difference.
Bobby Owsinski's 'The Mixing Engineer's Handbook 2nd edition' is a good one that is not too technical.
Definately read up on EQ, panning, FX and use of compression. Your tracks almost certainly will need to be tailored with EQ, panning, and FX and quite probably, compression to give all your sounds their own place on your soundstage to shine through, so they don't all blur into each other and sound dull.
