Latency

Post by poolmaniac747 » Sun Nov 30, 2008 3:12 pm

hi,

im trying to record with a usb microphone and im having latency issues. i read somewhere that using ASIO4ALL will kill any latency problems.

if i set the driver as ASIO and the Audio device as ASIO44ALL i can record but i cant hear what i am playing. once i have recorded i have to then change the audio device to E-MU ASIO to hear what i have played (bit annoying). does anyone know how i can set it so i can hear what i am playing at the same time?

I'm a newbie, but I've found for just layering a single track I'm fine with just turning monitoring off and listening to my amp live with the take (sortof have headphones on my head listening to everything I've recorded up to now, but still hearing my guitar amp externally).

I haven't messed around with routing in my Mackie mixer because I'm still messing around with things, but I'm thinking I could achieve similar results in the phones by running Live outs into the Mackie and mixing that with the mic input that I'm recording before it gets to the soundcard.

Check the Furman HDS/HRS system if you're needing something bigger. I've used it on other setups and liked it alot. Lets each player mix their own headphone.
