FIREWIRE Problem

Post by Thaknar » Fri Dec 05, 2008 5:53 pm

Hi guys,

so here is another of my problems:

I am using a Alesis Multimix 8 Firewire and want to use it as an external soundcard for my macbook.
I've installed the newest drivers and can see the multimix in my preferences. so i changed settings to use it as in- & output. also did it in ableton (live 7).
so now i can record my microkorg via the input put cant here a thing through the output... what am i doing wrong?

anyone with some setup up help? maybe even some pics where i can see the setup??

thanks!

best
thaknar

hmm, please doublecheck:
- on the actual audio track you want to record to, is the right input selected?
- is the record button of the audio track switched on?
- is 'monitor' switched to 'in'?

what does the meter of your audio track say?
does any signal arrive there at least?
(even though you cant hear it?)

hmmh!! all settings seem fine.
so, also the meters on the multimix do nothing?

and, what about any other tracks from live that you route to the alesis output 1/2? do you hear THEM at least?

the multimix has no meters... only a peek light
for real, the multimix has no channel 1/2. it has the channel 1 and a channel 2... but every track i route to the 1/2 stays silent... atm i'm pretty confused what to do...
its not only the ableton sounds that stay silent. also the mac system sounds stay silent.

maybe alesis customer support can help... hopefully...

The amazing answer of alesis' "customer support" is "deinstall and reinstall" to sum it up... thanks for nothing...
hopefully abletons customer support knows something...

HI Thanknar,

that sounds indeed strange, as all settings look perfectly fine. Could you write an email to [email protected] with your log.txt attached? You can find the log.txt there:
