Exporting in SX2 only renders half the loop?

Post by rEalm » Thu Jul 15, 2004 5:53 pm

Here's problem I keep running into when rewiring Live to SX2. Say I have a 4 bar drum loop that repeats 4 times in Live, and I want to rewire that to SX and then export it into SX as well. So I'll set my left and right locators in SX to measure 1 and measure 17, drag the loop into the Arrange page in Live and copy it 4 times. Jump back to SX, solo the rewire channel and then export the audio onto a SX track.

When the render is done, the resulting audio file is not completely rendered properly. I'll only have audio in bars 1&2, 5&6, 9&10, and 13&14. The other measures are just digital silence. It's not always so clean as just being the first two measures of the loop either, sometimes it's more or less, but never the whole loop.

The only workaround is to close both apps, open Live on it's own, render from there and not SX, and then open SX and import the audio file into the pool. Very frustrating! Anyone else seeing this?

Yes. Same here. I repost my reply I made in the Nuendo thread on the same topic:

Hello, Abletons!

It seems I'm not the only one experiancing this problem of partial rendering (or dropouts) during mixdown in Rewire mode w/Cubase SX/Nuendo.

I did successfully mixdown a single drum track after allowing, enough lead-in -a few bars- but, with more than a few tracks say, 6 to 8, the loops are only partially rendered. The first-half, usually.
Now, I'm beginning to have actual playback problems from one project that sounds like the same problem in mixdown only, in playback.

The work around of closing everything down, then re-opening the project in Ableton, then rendering as a seperate file then, importing into SX, is what I've had to resort to but, if you are using any processing, effects, etc. in VST then, tough luck.

and this is in both 3.03 and 3.04.

I'm downloading the SX 2.2 update but as there has been no problem w/mixdown in SX/Reason/Rewire and I've gone through all the hardware settings and program preferences and so far, find nothing amiss...I think this an Ableton/Rewire issue.

It needs to looked into and addressed a.s.a.p ..Please!
