NAMM 1/15/09

Expecting anything cool?

I know a while back Cakewalk was going to release a synth, but then it turned into vaporware.

NI -- Still no word on Reaktor 6. PSP, all quiet since Xenon, and MixPack 2. Obviously, No Live 8 as of yet. The last IK plug being the T-Racks 3, definitely not a festival release.

I wonder if anything cool, usable, and affordable is on the way.

I have a feeling Korg will release a new groovebox.

I'd bet $20 that ableton 8 gets announced.

I'd also expect a new electribe.
It was as if someone shook up a 6 foot can of blood soda and suddenly popped the top.

I'm looking forward to this (but it may not count for your consideration as it is 1) for guitar and 2) already announced):

I would say that there's a good possibility about Live 8.

Yes. A cool new budget midi controller - like a UC33 v2, or like the Torq thing but not software jailed.

And Live 8.

This would be enough for me.

Live 8? Cubase 5? These are probably the 2 biggest rumors audio folk seem to be waiting impatiently for. It would be very exciting if either of these 2 updates were debuted at NAMM.

The only for sure announcement I've heard from a company is iZotope showing off their new Ozone 4.

Korg better not release something cool. 8O

I've just bought an MPC500 and told my fiance that I won't be buying any more music gear for a while... got a wedding to pay for now!

Even if they announce something at NAMM, it doesn't always mean that it is all boxed up in a warehouse ready to go and available in a fortnight !

Steinberg, for instance, announced Groove agent 3 at the 2006 summer NAMM, but it wasn't released until the fall of 2007. MOTU also took more than a year to release Mach 5 MK II after announcing it.

I think for sure Cubase 5 will be announced - the company are tight-lipped but stuff like 3rd party vendors saying compatible with pro tools 8 and cubase 5, and then scrambling to correct it, a day later the Cubase 5 became simply Cubase. Cubase 4 is still very broken BTW, one reason I didn't upgrade from SX3.

I am assuming Live 8 will be mentioned, but if they hold it over until the summer NAMM it wouldn't bother me at all.
http://soundcloud.com/umbriel-rising http://www.myspace.com/leedsquietmandemos Live 7.0.18 SUITE, Cubase 5.5.2], Soundforge 9, Dell XPS M1530, 2.2 Ghz C2D, 4GB, Vista Ult SP2, legit plugins a plenty, Alesis IO14.

I'm guessing Live 8, too. Beta starting soonish after announcement, then final release a few months later. But who knows, maybe Ableton are just going to announce another cooperation that won't lead to anything tangible in years.

Also hoping for a new Electribe. Ideally, 1 new electribe covering both VA and sampling, not 2...

I hope we see more NON-budget controllers personally, put the build quality back into things :)
