this is along shot and may seem esoteric, but...
what if there were a graphical way to drop pre-determined curve shapes into an automation lane? it could be part of the browser and you'd see previews of common (and not so common) shapes. once dropped, you could stretch it to fit whatever material you were working on, commit the shape, then you could edit it.
i know you can set up your own bank of dummy clips and drag from bank session, but then you'd need to do more to set it up for your desired config.
graphically seeing these things would be rad.
look at ni massive's modulators for an idea of what i'm talking about.

This is a great idea. Many other DAWs are miles ahead than Ableton in regards to robust envelope editing. To proportionately transform an envelope in Live is impossible. Check out Studio One's Beaaautiful Transform Tool. http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=mnNrgME9POY

This would be one of the benefits of having a decent transport bar system in Ableton, but I doubt we'll be seeing that any time soon. Good request tho.

Yes, I was just looking at Zebra's MSEG factory banks and thinking how cool they were.
Dummy clips would be good work around,
All it takes is someone to make a set and upload it for us all
I nominate Macableton
