Live8 -- I can finally drop my other DAW's...
Seems like lots of folks here have 2+ DAWS they use......but does anyone here solely use Live? I'm ready to do just that -- which means dropping Cubase4 for mixing, etc. I do all my sequencing and vst instrument work in Session View these days (after which there is no going back to oldschool linear), and it's a royal pain to export files over to C4....and if there's one thing I've been learning these days, it's that Workflow is Everything. And to use just one DAW from start to finish, well.....that'd be awesome, for my needs anyway. and with Live8, Group tracks + multi-channel fader/etc changes will help a lot, plus we've got multiband comp and limiter coming.....all this, +my million VST's, I just can't see why i'd want to go anywhere else with a song/mix than just staying right in live. (oh and sample edit wise, Wavosaur rocks, and i love how Live will just pop it open for ya from the clip window....)
just thinking out loud, and curious if anyone else either has or will downsize to live8 as your sole workstation....

One word... COMPING. Which is a pain in the butt in Ableton compared to Logic and other DAWs.

well according to wikipedia -- "In a standard jazz combo, the pianist or guitarist typically comps during the horn and double bass solos by improvising chords and improvised countermelodies."
but how that relates to life in the DAW world is uh.........beyond me. though how cubase or logic would be better for "improvising" than live is also, yes, beyond me.
anyway the guy might as well have said, "one word - smuckholing" for all Comping means to me.

An example of comping in Logic Pro 8:

Though in response to Pandamonium, yeah, it's not as easy to comp in Live but it's still doable. Grouping tracks and automation curves in Live 8 should help, if I've understood properly what's coming.
