Which MIDI Sequencer works good with Live?

Post by OlliWa » Mon Jul 22, 2002 12:24 am

I just tried out the Live Demo and I love it! The only thing I miss is MIDI Sequencing...
Hoping that Ableton will implement it in the future, I need something to keep my external and my Pulsar Synths alive. Now I have some question to you experienced Live users out there...

I have a PC:
1. Which Sequencers work together with Live ( I mean timingwise and starting, stopping synchronously - these things)
2.Does it even work with audio in both Proggies? ( I mean Looping in Live and doing other stuff with audio files in the other Audio/MIDI Sequencer)
3. Which experiences did you make with splitting up your work over two "sequencing" Programs.

I hope I am not the 1.000.000st Person asking this questions, but searching the forum did'nt reveal anything informative to me.
Thanks a lot and keep on rocking or chillin' or grooving or whatever you prefer...

i use cubaseSX on my PC and have live as a rewire slave. once the wonderfull ableton tech support helped me with a midi problem with my motif6, it has worked marvously!

you just have live be a rewire slave, and cubase sends tempo/start/stop commands to live and live sends it audio through cubase as an audio track so you can add effects and etc.

works pretty well.

I use both SX and Reason, and I like Reason better because it can be slaved to Live, and multiple Reason outs can be routed into Live, you can record loops, etc.
