Should I buy XP pro or Home for laptop
Should I buy XP pro or Home for laptop
I need to buy xp for a new laptop because I can't stand vista. Home edition is cheaper and this laptop will only be used for music so I don't need any flashy features. What I am wondering is there an advantage or disadvantage to buying Pro or Home? Running ableton, serato and some midi controllers.
Mac Pro , 5 GB, MOTU ultralite,Live 7.0.14, Remote SL 37& Zero,Hp dual 2 core, 2 GB , NI plugs, Stylus rmx, Virus desktop TI, Serato
There are plenty of differences between pro and home. Most of them shouldn't make a lot of difference, but there's a biggy if you're planning on using more than one microprocessor...
XP home doesn't support multiple processors. XP Pro does.

How can you use more than one processor? I am certain it can be done because you are stating this, but I had no clue it was even possible. Would this be likened to adding more core/s? Hmm...cool
You need a motherboard which supports dual processors. Like this:DrXparaMental wrote:!!!ollyb303 wrote:There are plenty of differences between pro and home. Most of them shouldn't make a lot of difference, but there's a biggy if you're planning on using more than one microprocessor...

Edit: And as I've just read the word "laptop" in your post title, this probably won't apply!!!
