Midi Mapping

Post by topey » Wed Feb 04, 2009 11:39 pm

Hello!

I recently updated from 5 to 7 and some things have changed...

Example:

When making midi mapping manually, if I change the volume control rotary knob of my midi keyboard from track one to track two, live 5 asks if I want to remove the older assignement and replace it with new, but version 7 do not ask anything but assignes it to other track as well, and now both volumes are changing when rotary knob in turned.

In some cases it is good improvement, but in some situations the old way is more usable.

Is there any way to choose if older assignements are overwritten or inserted?

Hello Topey,

Live 7 has multi-assignments, Live 5 doesn´t. Simply select the assignment in the mapping browser and hit delete.

Best,
Christian

Thanks for quick answer!

So, I post this to feature wishlist as well.

Deleting from the browser window is handy in most cases, especially when making permanent assignment, but here is one example when multi-assignment would be nice to be able to turn off:

When making music, there comes situations that something got to be adjusted, for example the simpler sound got to be changed. If multi-assignment is on, I have to check which channels or buttons are free to be assigned for the adjusting, if I just use the buttons that happends to be available, while making adjustments to the simpler, in somewhere else, probably in other tracks audio-effect, reverb, or delay is getting unadjusted when the parameters are changing with simpler adjustments.

So my feature wish for version 8 or version 7 update is that multiassignment feature had a on/off button.

But anyway ability to control several functions by one button is great in many situations.
